Ethernet Printer
« on: January 29, 2014, 09:23:37 AM »

Hi,

I am using DIR 600L cloud router and im unable to connect my ethernet printer to the router. It is not being detected on the LAN. the network link lights are ok (GREEN & ORANGE) so no problem with the connection or the RJ45 Cables. In the router setup page (192.168.0.1) when i click on LAN setup, it shows all other Wireless and Wired clients connected to my router - ip wise (like PC, laptop and android phones) however it does not show my printer. Is there any router firewall blocking this or port forwarding involved ? I have checked on my laptop as well (connected on same network), which has no antivirus installed atm, on that too the printer is not visible....so its not a pc firewall problem. My earlier router was an Aztech, it worked on that, but after changing to D-Link im having this problem.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?
  • Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.
  • Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.

Ensure the printer is set up for automatic obtain IP address networking. Clear out any previous network settings. Check the printers status page or configuration page for networking information and status. If nothing is being reported there, then you'll need to contact the printers Mfr for support and information. Nothing on this router prevents a connection unless the router is mis configured some how under the DHCP settings which it shouldn't be if everything is automatic.

 - Hardware Version = A1
 - Firmware Version = 1.14
 - Region = Middle East
 - I have setup DHCP and assigned IP adresses of other computers, laptops & android devices on the
network. However cannot assign ip address to printer as it cant be detected on network.
 - Devices are set to obtain IP address automatically
 - Printer set to obtain IP address automatically (default settings)
 - Unable to check printer status page since Its not on the network

Is there any solution to this ?

Hi,

I figured the problem....Dlink router default ip was set to 192.169.0.1, while other routers mostly 192.168.1.1, my previous printer was following this series and so is my printer by default. Problem is each time I turn on the printer its ip automatically sets to follow the default 1.1 series while my dlink router was 0.1. So I changed router ip to 1.1 and it worked. Since ip is set to automatic, all my network pcs, laptops, etc all got new 1.1 series ips so just have to reserve the ips and im good to go. Problem Solved !

Glad you got it working. The printer could have been configured to use the .0.# pool as well. However using 1.1 works too. Enjoy.
