Dlink 322L Bricked?
« on: January 31, 2014, 11:09:49 AM »

I tried to update the fw on the 322L but it failed, now it doesn't connect via the web interface. The power LED flash blue the rest are solid amber.

Is there a recovery mode for the Dlink 322L or any way to fix it.

By the way i have tried pressing the reset button but that does not work.

First, unplug the DNR-322L power cord for 30 seconds and plug the unit back in and see if that corrects the issue. Next, when you press the Reset button, there's a specific procedure to follow.  While the DNR-322L is powered up, press and hold the Reset button for > 9 seconds. This procedure will reset all user settings/configurations to the factory defaults, but should not impact the HDD configuration or stored data.

I have tried that but it has not worked. When the device is powered on the hard drive spins for 10 seconds and then stops. The power led continuously flashes.

Shut down the DNR-322L and see if the HDD is properly seated. Remove the HDD and re-seat.
If this doesn't work, you may want to remove the HDD altogether to see if that's the root cause.

Tried that as well with no luck. Is there no way to force a firmware update by adding the update to a flash drive maybe?

I don't believe uploading FW via the USB port is an option. At this point I recommend calling the toll-free D-Link technical support number and asking if there's a recovery procedure for this particular unit. . . which may be possible since it's a new model, the legacy ShareCenter models which are of similar design do not.

D-Link Technical Support: 1-888-851-6464

You're best bet is to call first thing in the morning and you should get through to someone very quickly. Please post back and let us know how things work out, especially if there's a yet-to-be-published procedure. Worst case scenario is that D-Link will RMA this unit and send you a replacement, presuming the device is within the one year warranty period. I believe the DNS-322L was released < 1 year ago, so that shouldn't be an issue.
