when dns320l do its initial drive format it will create three hidden partitions, a swap partition and two system partitions (one at the drive initial cluster and one at last cluster, both with the same data replied for security reasons).
on those it will write all kind of setup data included the volume name info.
you'll need fun_plug to access those directly, so you're in a catch22 kind of problem.
off course you can mount your hd on a pc capable to read ext3 partitions.
