Change Volume_2 to Volume_1

I want to use fun_plug with the dns-320l. The problem with fun_plug is that it will only start when it's located on the disk labeled as "Volume_1". Of course the Volume_1 disk crashed beyond repair recently. So I only got the disk from bay two left. The dns-320l labeled that disk Volume_2 and fun_plug won't start when I copy it to the disk. Is there any way how I can change the Volume_2 to Volume_1?

I thought I could simply switch the hdd bay but that didn't work. The dns-320l still labels it as Volume_2. I also did a reset to factory default settings. But the dns-320l still recognizes the disk as Volume_2 even tho it's in bay one and all settings are reset. Any ideas?

I know that dns-320l partions the disks and that there is a system partition before the data partition. Are there any files on that system partition that I can edit (external) to signal the dns-320l to use the disk as Volume_1?

when dns320l do its initial drive format it will create three hidden partitions, a swap partition and two system partitions (one at the drive initial cluster and one at last cluster, both with the same data replied for security reasons).
on those it will write all kind of setup data included the volume name info.
you'll need fun_plug to access those directly, so you're in a catch22 kind of problem.
off course you can  mount your hd on a pc capable to read ext3 partitions.

Tried that yesterday after posting here. One of the partitions contains a ".systemfile" folder and within that a "hd_volume_info.xml". I edited all Volume_2 to Volume_1 and all HD_b* to HD_a*. However this didn't change anything. When i place the drive in bay one it's still recognized as Volume_2.
I couldn't mount the third partition. The filesystem on that partition is unrecognized. Not sure if that's the problem.

Next thing I will try is accessing the DNS-320L's console via the serial port on the circuit board and go through the configuration files from there. I alredy soldered a connector on the board but of course I can't find my rs232 adapter.... \o/
But i'll try it as soon as i find that damn thing
