Hah, bum unit.  Replacement arrived from Amazon today, works fine.
DLink, boo.
Amazon, yay.
DLink web tech support *never* contacted me.  Zero stars.
DLink phone support wanted to blame my router.  Zero stars.
I *think* the replacement I got is a new HW version...A1 on the label, didn't think to check the bum unit when I returned it.
Well now I can finally install it and see how it works.  And how long it lasts.  Bummed that in a time when you can get *so* much good service, that a company can be so inattentive like this.
