My 5020L worked very well looking out of the house window for about 1 month.  Then the video image lost most of its color and the trees appear as if they have snow on them.  The camera controls work well remotely.  My DCS 2332L, which looks out of the other window exhibits none of the same issues and the video image is very good, color and clarity wise.  Any input gratefully received.

I'm having the same problem (colour washed out; trees look like they have snow in them) with my 5020L straight out of the box. Have tried adjusting the image settings but can't get a decent colour picture. Would be very interest in a solution.

Do the images have a pink/purple hue to them? You can more easily determine the colors if you rotate the camera facing an inside room.

When the camera is turned into the house the colors are not vivid but washed out.  The "snowy" effect that appears on the trees appears on people's hair when the camera is focused indoors.

It's difficult to tell from looking at your image, but the screenshot does kinda look like it has the pink/purple hue that others have experienced.  I've had the same effect on my DCS-5020L intermittently, but nothing that's been persistent for extended periods of time.

It looks like me like your IR lamps are on.  With IR on in daylight, images will look exactly like what you've posted.  Turn IR off (or set it back to automatic) and things will get back to normal.

The image posted by the OP is in color, which means the camera is in day mode, and the DCS-5020L doesn't have the ability to independently disable the IR illuminstors.

I'm not sure what you mean by "independently disable", but for clarity, you can turn the IR illuminators on and off manually, if you want.

Interesting observation about "image is in color, thus day IR=off".  I actually had not had occasion to turn the IR on in daylight to see, but you are correct: you get a grayscale image that way.  I had posted my comment because I have an IP camera from another manufacturer where this is not true: if you turn the illuminators on in good light, you get a washed-out color picture of exactly the sort that the OP posted.  Curious that the behavior is different between cameras.

The IR illuminators cannot be turned off independently from enabling/disabling Night Mode. That feature is available on higher end D-Link cameras. I believe the color has the pink/purple hue that a number of users have observed.

100% Workaround: Gently knock the camera's round head so that the filter falls and everything is restored!
