I'm trying to set up email log notifications and so far I've tried an MSN account and a Verizon account. I have read on another router forum of someone successfully using a Gmail account. I don't have a Gmail account and although they are easy to come by, I'd rather not when it comes down to it. Your experiences and/or settings would be greatly appreciated.
On a different note, I have a Wii connected wirelessly to my Network and I kept noticing messages in my router log that it would authenticate, stay active for a few minutes and then deauthenticate. At first I thought that this might be the reason for the intermittent Shareport disconnects I experience. Shareport will notify me that there is a network problem and disconnect only for a second or two. It then will reconnect. But, I digress. I looked into the Wii setup and there is a setting for the Wii24 channel called "Auto Standby". Well, it was on. So, I turned it off and the random connect/disconnect went away. My guess is that when the Nintendo network wants to talk to the Wii, it will authenticate itself, say "Hello, how are you?" and then deauthenticate. The only drawback with disabling this setting is that you can't automatically connect to the Wii24 channel. I know, I know, I'll get over it. I guess the moral of the story is that router logs are a good thing. Without 'em, there's no telling what your router might be doing behind your back. If I ever see my credit card number pass through and then get a package of new antennas in the mail, I'm gonna be hacked.
