DAP 1522 vs DGL 4500

Can anyone tell me why my wireless performance is so much more consistant on the DAP-1522 then on my DGL-4500. Both are setup in the same location. Isn't the wireless technology the same on both? Sometimes my DGL drops to half the speed of the DAP-1522. The DAP-1522 seems to always remain the same.
