I have a DIR-655 and it was working fine until I updated my firmware to 2.11NA. All my devices have to have a static setting for dns in order to work. As soon as I enter either my modems DNS address or googles it works, if I set it to my gateway, I can't get out. It works for a bit when I reboot it, but then stops working. Can I download old firmware packages? This is seriously annoying, everyone I have over has to get their ip statically and I don't want to do that.

• Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
• Has a Factory Reset been performed?
• Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

• What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
• What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.

• Turn OFF DNS Relay  under Setup/Networking. Link>Finding Faster DNS Addresses using Name Bench and input new DNS addresses under Setup/Internet/Manual.
• Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.
• Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP and DNS addressing.

If you disable DNS Relay and input manual DNS on the router under Setup/Internet/Manual, all devices will get that DNS that you use there. If you have DNS Relay enabled, all devices will see a DNS address of 192.168.0.1.

Are you talking about dhcp and assigning IP to each connecting device or the dns to resolve IP of websites?
There are previous versions to be had, I could send you as far back as 2.03, or provide link, but I'm betting that 2.11 can be made good.

I'm thinking this is just a configuration or mis-understanding of DNS Relay settings is all. Let see what he comes back with on his current configuration and if disabling DNS relay may help. DNS Relay can be used either way and just depends on his needs. I've used it both way and either works on the latest FW versions.
