Email settings for notifications
« on: August 19, 2015, 08:08:09 AM »

I have a DNS-345 Share Center which I had configured for sending me email notifications via my Hotmail account.
For some reason a few weeks ago (or more?) it stopped working.
I have now set it up using my ISP POP3 account but would like to set it back to use Hotmail.

Does anyone know if MS changed anything that prevents me doing this and if not can they confirm the correct settings I should be using.

Thanks!

MS did change a few things with the advent of win 10

As far as we have been able to check - we don't use windows - the following is what is required:

    Windows Live/Hotmail
SMTP server address: smtp.live.com
SMTP user name: (Your complete Windows Live Hotmail email address ("me@hotmail.com" or "me@live.com" for instance) )
SMTP password: (Your Windows Live Hotmail password)
SMTP port: 587
SMTP Auth: TLS/SSL required: yes

Note: the port number is required for the SSL/TLS to work.
I hope that helps.

Sorry about that.  The only other thing I can suggest is that you ask about what the settings are on one of the Microsoft hotmail forums.  If you get the same answer then test by installing a simple e-mail program like Pegasus mail, use the setup given and then see if you can send an e-mail to your POP3 account.  If that doesn't work it could be that your ISP is blocking some required ports (usually for some perceived 'security' requirement) or you might have them blocked at your modem/router.
