Format a single drive with 2 HD attached
« on: October 15, 2015, 01:59:39 PM »

Hello Folks,

Would like to know if there is a way to format just a single drive from the 2 HD’s attached. I have both in standard mode, not raid neither JBOD. So I would like to format a single one, but there are no options for this procedure. You can either transform them to RAID, or format both disks. There must be a way to format just a single unit, and preserve the other drive.

Thanks in advance

Can you pull out one drive and do the format?

Yes, definitely. But I do need a PC to do that, and that is not the case. I don’t have a pc, neither a external 3.5’ HD case that I could attach to my notebook.  :(

That’s why I am in trying to do this inside the NAS.

Thanks

No, i believe if you just remove one drive from the DNS and leave the one that need formatting, then use the DNS to format the drive. DNS uses a specific formatting while drives are installed into any DNS product.
