I was having trouble the other day mapping drives on my laptop so I can move some stuff around and save photos to the nas. However it was not letting me MAP then and kept asking for username and password. I typed in every combination I have setup on the NAS but nothing worked. So I deleted the users and it then works again! However I have friends who I share stuff with so how can I do both?

• What Hardware version is your DNS? Look at the sticker behind or under the device.
• Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DNSs web page under status.
• What region are you located?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
Is the DNS getting a Dynamic IP address from the main host router? I recommend using a Static IP address ON the DNS set to 192.168.#.30 or .20.

PC Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block.
Clear all browser caches.

Mapping drives should be \\192.168.0.##\Volume_1 I believe when napping.
What OS platform are you using?

Have you created a user account (preferably with password) and given that user access to your NAS?
Have you attached SMB/CIFS to the share of that user?
Did you read the manual section about users and groups?

Hi, so yes setup username and passwords. SMB!? I have given CIFS access. I have just read through manual and although I haven't seen anything that might explain the issue.
