my last update on this issue
I will make this short and brief. The only reason I am posting this is NOT to bash D-Link, but to offer an option to others, if they come across the same issue that I was having for over 7 months of frustration, without any resolve.
As promised in my last few postings, I decided to try a router from another company. I went with the Linksys EA9500 AC5400 Router. After 5 weeks of usage, I have not experienced any sudden disconnects issues on Wi-Fi, which was a regular issue with the 890L after 2 weeks of uptime. While I appreciate FurryNutz and others help in trying to solve the issue on my DIR-890L, comments such as "it may be an environment issue" or "set up your router to re-boot every day" did not move the yard stick for me to keep my DIR890-L. It seems like D-Link, like many others is content in putting out a "good enough" product that holds it's place until something new is released. At that time, the users of the older product are pretty much forgotten (1 firmware update in 9 months?!?!).
Everyone thankfully can make their own choice. For me, it is no longer D-Link. I really hope that someone in corporate reads this thread to see how fragile we, the end user are, when dealing with a company that has no clue how important it is to have quality control. My first computer was in 1982, an Atari 400 with 16K and a tape recorder. I've seen what customer support and quality control can do.
Please remember, I tried two different brand new 890L's, and had the exact same problem with both. So the issue is NOT on my end.
I wish all of you the best in your endeavors, and I hope that maybe one day I will got back to the D-Link brand. But now, I move on to Linksys.
