Howdy - no matter what I do the web GUI wont completely load- wont load at all or will be extremely unresponsive.

After toying with it for over 15 minutes it looks like it starts working again only to start doing it hours later.

Any ideas what this is about?

• What Hardware version is your switch? Look at sticker under the switch case.
• Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the switches web page under status.
• What region are you located?

What OS platform are you using?
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again. (For older generation routers.)
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the switch
Clear all browser caches.

If I could log in to the switches I'd tell you, I am remote so I can't just look at them.
from the gui after trying 15 times the 1210-10 is hardware C1 as is the 1210-28

I'm using OSX and Firefox.

So this happens from a remote location? Does it happen while you on site and at the switch as well?

Yes, I've reset them and they started working.

As soon as I set their time correctly they become unresponsive.

So you see this on the LAN side as well after setting the Time?

How are these switched connected?
There a internet connection some place and a router?

If you leave the time alone, will the switches continue to work?

Yes it behaves this way lan side and vpn side.

Yes these switches are part of a small business.

I'm pretty sure the switches are stable when not using SNTP settings, as now that I see that part the time this all started happening was when we synchronized the time when troubleshooting a different issue.  We need the times to be correct within 5 minutes of eachother.  The dlink switches do not keep steady time on their own.

After a 15 minute whack a mole, it looks like they're behaving perfectly.

I guess they just need a reset every now and then.

What is the Mfr and model of the ISP modem?
Also see if there is any log information being recorded after you set up the NTP services and see if something is being logged soon after...

Need to check to see if FW is up to date...
There wouldn't be any other NTP services at this location would there?
Try setting one switch with NTP while leaving the other not set to see if anything happens.

What NTP services or addresses are you setting/using?

I'm wondering if something in the NTP area is having issues in your configuration. Wondering if something could be blocking NTP services on the switches or maybe there is a conflict or sometime in NTP that's causing this to happen. It's hard to troubleshoot more which maybe needed at some point. You need to isolate the switches from the network and test them with at a different location to see of the problem follows.

AFAIK they are on the newest firmware - I am never sure what I am looking at when browsing the dlink support pages.

We host our own NTP - some machines are hard set so we allow NTP to leave the firewall.  No other devices are having time related issues on our hosted server.

As long as the device isn't using the time for the packets I guess it doesn't matter what time the switch shows.

Need to see if you have the DGS 1210-10 version or the 10P version as I think they differ.

Wonder if something in your configuration maybe hampering this. You might try an NTP address thats on the WAN side to see maybe if you see a different behavior as a test.

See if leaving the switches alone with out setting up any NTP to see if the UI remains stable.

Only other way would be to test these switches at a different location with a different ISP configuration and NTP services. Something on the net and not your own NTP server and see if the problem follows.

This is something that you might phone contact D-Link support about and see what's hanging up the UI when you configure NTP services. I haven't seen anyone else post about an issue like this, so no sure if this is FW or configuration related. However not much postings in regards to switches so not sure of this is a corner case or more.

Test it out and see how it goes. Please post back with any findings...

No one in their right mind would tolerate this.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. Ask for level 2 or higher support. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
