DNS-320L disappear from network
« on: February 15, 2017, 07:01:50 AM »

Hello,

Sorry if this question has been asked before.

During the last two weeks my DNS-320L has started to disappear from the LAN. It's impossible to reconect to it with my WIN7. I've noticed that if I ping the DNS-320L it will again be visible and possible to connect to.  I've used this NAS for some years now and have never before experinced this problem. I also noticed that now it's only possible to have one PC connected to the DNS-320L while before I could have three,

What has happened?

I'm a little worried the DNS-320L has suffered damage durin a poweroutage we had two weeke ago.

Edit : I forgot to mention that the DNS-320L disconnect from the LAN while I'm connecetd to it working in a folder on it.

What other computers and devices do you have on your network?

Two Laptop (win7), one Epson Scanner/Printer(WiFi), and two Android Smartphones but the phones are only using the WiFi for surfing and are never connected to the DNS-320L. Plus as of yesterday one laptop (win10).

Edit : forgot to mention the desktop used as a mediacentral(Win7) connected via cable.
Edit edit : I'm using a DiIR-655 router.

What Rev Version is the 655 and what FW version is currently loaded?

Try setting up a static IP address ON the DNS, set 192.168.0.20.

Is the DNS directly connected to the router or thru a external LAN switch?

What Rev Version is the 655 and what FW version is currently loaded?

Hardware Version: B1
Firmware Version: 2.09

Try setting up a static IP address ON the DNS, set 192.168.0.20.

It' already has an static IP 192.168.0.105.

Is the DNS directly connected to the router or thru a external LAN switch?

Through an external switch an Dlink DGS-1005D

Can you change the Static IP address on the DNS to 192.168.0.32 as .105 is not out side the routers default IP address pool. Any Static IP addresses should be outside the routers IP address pool of .100 thru .199.

Does the DNS disappear if you connect it directly to the router?

LLTD Settings : (Link Layer Topology Discovery)
If you enable this option you can get the network physical topology include this device on the Vista Operation System, otherwise you can get the network physical topology exclude this device.
This option can be found as described on my last post/message :-)

I reserved the addresses 192.168.0.100, 192.168.0.102, and 192.168.0.105 and now everything works fine again.

Seems like the 320L works better with a reserved IP address than with a Static. Odd.

Glad you got it working.
Enjoy.  ;)
