I just recently bought this router to replace an old WRT54G and I have to say that I like it so far. However, it does seem to be doing something strange--though I do not know if this is normal or not. Whenever a client reconnects, it connects at a low network speed. This speed only increases when the devices are in use, but declines when they are not. For example, I have a wireless n compatible computer and wireless g laptop. When I am not using either, the status page shows them at 81 and 24 Mbps, respectively. When I am using the n desktop, it will jump to 270-300 Mbps. The laptop does the same and may jump to 48-54 Mbps. The game systems I have are a bit trickier (PS3, Wii, and PSP). It may take them several minutes of internet access time to reach their full speed--and despite good connection, they may never reach full speed. But again, that number does rise when the device is in use. Also, only one or two computers/game systems are on at one time, three at most--so 2-3 total clients connected at any given time.
I have WISH and QoS disabled, as I don't need them or use them--my desktop is the only client that actually gets any heavy network use, and in that event, I'm not particularly concerned about the others. Security is configured to WPA-WPA2 for compatibility and set to AES only.
