Ok. Like furry said reboot the router and the PC. Let us know.
Since you cloned your PC, you might do a full reboot with both PC and router then test again...Might ask the ISP service support about what maybe needed if anything on connected routers with there services.
This happen with another PC or device like a phone or iPad?
They get full access thru the 842?
I do not think this is a router issue. If you are connecting to some sites (as long as it is not cache) you are getting connected to the Internet. The router by default will not block any websites. On your computer, you may want to statically assign the DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and see if you can get to other sites.Did you try pinging 4.2.2.2? and yahoo.com?
The router is working. Check with your admin, sounds like they are blocking sites or doing some kind of filtering (may be blocking google dns). Also is could be something on their network. Not sure how they wired the dorm rooms. Does another person there have a router to just test your room connection? Is the WAN IP address in the same subnet as your computer's IP address? On your screen shot the LAN side was 10.x.x.x. If the WAN IP is using 10.x.x.x then you will have problems. Reset the router, go back in and clone the mac address (using your laptop) and leave the default settings (change your wireless network name/pw though). Dont change any other settings and test.
This is why I am confused. From your screen shot it shows no WAN IP settings so I have no idea how you are connecting to the internet unless it is all browser cache. If you do not have a WAN IP, the router is not connected to the dorm network. You may want to contact tech support. This is probably easier over the phone
What country are you in? Verify that the cable from the wall is connected directly to the Internet (yellow) port on your router. Nothing should be in between it. ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DIR-842/REVB/DIR-842_REVB_MANUAL_2.01_EN_US.PDF pages 8-10What color is the "globe" link light on the router (2nd from the left)? When you connect to the router's UI (http://dlinkrouter.local.), on the home page is there a red check mark? (page 22 in the manual)
