Water Detector Alarm Going off when no water is there.

The audible alarm in my detector has for some reason decided to go off even though there is not a drop of water anywhere in sight. It is brand new and worked properly for about 2 hours throughout some testing both indicating water there and water not there. Then for some reason although there was no water there it has decided to start beeping incessantly. Unplugging the sensor cable will stop it, but resetting the detector does not change anything, Any ideas folks?
