I had a similar issue. It (in my case) was the cable modem. I had techs out for 5 months almost every 2-3 weeks - good connection, modem tested good, they added a signal booster, replaced the modem with the same model, no coax splitter, replaced cables, plugged modem into an outlet by itself, etc etc etc. I finally bought a Arris SB6183 and it has been up 24/7 for the last 4-5 months.
Does your modem reboot when it drops? In my case I would see my modem start its reboot process when my connection dropped.
Is your modem and/or router running hot?
It is difficult finding the chipset for this modem. My google must be broke or my 5 hour energy hasn't kicked in yet. Looks to be Broadcom but it is mentioned in the Intel Puma 6 conversation.
Maybe try resetting the modem -->

How long was it working before the firmware update?
It is almost impossible to know if it is the router or modem without replacing one of them.
