This firmware release appears to have done something to the sensitivity of the motion detection.  Getting constant false triggers now.  Whenever the light changes just the slightest amount it triggers a motion alert.  Dropping the sensitivity in the app has no effect.  The firmware was the only change made.  Anyone else seeing this?  Seems to be a recurrent theme with d-link that they have trouble ignoring scene intensity changes.

Also, why can't motion alerts be disabled when the camera switches between day and night mode?

Any updates on this?  This latest firmware is completely unusable for motion detection.  Sensitivity at 1% and the slightest movement or light intensity change triggers motion.  Sensitivity at 0% and no triggers at all.  Also the mydlink app re-defaults the sensitivity to 30% every time it is enabled or disabled.

Over two weeks and no responses.  Searching just reveals a ton of other threads with people having similar issues with lighting intensity changes triggering motion detection on various dlink cameras with no solutions.  This has rendered this camera completely useless for security - I'm receiving several false alerts per minute today as the clouds drift by (Camera is in a room with closed curtains and not pointed at the windows - but it still doesn't matter). 

I'm going to have to toss this camera out and go with a competitor that has been able to figure out how to ignore scene intensity changes (just about anyone else).

If you downgrade the firmware does it go back to "normal"?

How much area do you have selected in the motion detection setup? Try less selected "boxes" and see if it improves.

Also with a lot of home cameras motion detection is triggered by pixel-change so light changes and shadows will cause it to trigger. But you having it at 1% and still triggers that much is ridiculous and it definitely should not be working that way.

UPDATE: The tech tested with the latest firmware and didn't see much change in the motion detection.  It worked the same as the previous version.  Try resetting the camera and setup. Possibly the upgrade glitched something. Again very sorry for the delay.

Performed a factory reset on the camera.  Now I am unable to reconnect to the camera using the app.  An average user would be out of luck at this point.  I can log in to the default wifi and default ip address and set up the wifi, but the camera will not not re-add to mydlink.  Pretty horrible experience.

I have also tested the motion detection mechanism using firmware 1.02 as a baseline and 1.04 and using the same motion detection area and sensitivity (set at 85% in an indoor environment with natural sunlight close by), I do not see a noticeable change in behavior with regards to triggering.

Well, this camera continues to have glitches as of August.02.2018
Yeah the motion is alerting about every 5 to 10 minutes randomly for me.
Usually caused by a cloud or angle of sunlight or the ir shutter switching or neighborhood ac voltage level change of plus or minus 0.05 volts (like if the neighbor's cooler turns on.)
0 to 29 percent is lots of alerts, 30 to 46 is a few less, 47 to 100 is same as 0 to 29.

Still wont reboot if after system crash, have to unplug and plug back in, though it does seem to crash less with the 1.04.01 update.
Wifi "seems" somewhat better or more stable with 1.04.01 update.
The time to live view in the apps for this camera still takes about 10 to 20 seconds at least to load.

Video quality is good after loading time.

I have tried downgrading the firmware to 1.03 and 1.01, the number of alerts is a tiny fewer but not much, but the previous firmwares have a lot of other problems though that make it difficult to set motion and percentage correctly at all.

This is my general observations of this camera, it is NOT a full log of every glitch I have experienced with the 2530L.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. Ask for an RMA.

I've found the motion detection on 1.04.01 to be the same as the earlier versions.  It still gets a few false motion detections, such as when clouds change the lighting.  And it also still does not detect motion sometimes, like earlier firmware versions.

There's a "new" feature in this firmware where the camera name is now included in the email subject.  This is in other D-Link camera models but originally dropped from this model.  It's very useful when you have lots of emails from different cameras so you can easily identify which emails are from a specific camera.  It saves you the hassle of checking every email to see which ones are from the camera you are interested in.

Unfortunately, however, D-Link still didn't include another feature found on some of their other models but missing from the DCS-2530L.  This is a setting to automatically overwrite older snapshot and video files when the SD card fills up.  Currently, the camera stops recording when the SD card is full, so you need to regularly monitor the free space and delete your older files or else your camera will stop recording.  It would be great if D-Link would add this important feature into the next firmware release!

RTSP streaming has been completely broken after upgrading to this firmware.

i have 16 of these cameras, upon upgrading a select four of these cameras, I noticed all of the RTSP feeds were no longer recognized using the security app I have chosen. VLC would no longer connect either. Everything else about the cameras work including the web-view and MJPG.

Support suggested doing a factory reset on the camera after firmware upgrades, this was ineffective in solving the issue. We even tested this with a new camera fresh out of box and immediately upgraded in firmware, it had the same issue.

We really need the RTSP video+audio streaming back on our security system and have been forced to downgrade back to v 1.02 in order for it to work.

Has anyone else encountered this issue as well?

All of the cameras are HW version A or A2

I haven't heard of this issue with the new firmware.

What security app are you using? 

I forwarded this to the camera guys to look into and will try to test this in the next day or 2.

You mentioned you contacted tech support, can you PM me your case number.   I found it. Looks like your case got escalated to level 3.

Techs tested and had no issues streaming RTSP video/audio via VLC (v3.0.6) and firmware 1.04.01.

I am not sure why in your case updating to 1.04 is breaking it and then downgrading fixes it. After you update 1 camera, reset it and reconfigure to see if that fixes it.
