I have a dir 615 router with 3 computers networked sharing the same internet connection. the computer that the router is connected to is using Vista Home edition and is having no problems. one computer is using a dwa 140 adapter and is running Windows XP (SP3) and the third computer is running windows xp (SP2) using a dwa 130 adapter. The adapter always showed a low or no signal and had to be reset many times a day. I attributed that to the location of the computer and the fact that there were obstacles in the way of the signal. However, all bets were off as of Friday. The dwa 130 stopped working all together. No lights, nothing. I connected the adapter to 2 other computers to see if there was any life, and alas, I got a message that the other computers did not recognized the USB device that had just been plugged in. I then called D-Link support and explained the situation. I had plugged the dwa 130 into the usb port in the back of the third computer (XP, SP2) and found that the dwa 130 was being treated as a USB drive ( THis is strange, I thought). upon mentioning this to the dlink support person, I was told that my issue was not a hardware one but a software one and that I should install the new drivers. I downloaded the driver on my laptop, saved it on a USB drive and then installed it on the desktop. I unzipped the file and began the installation process. When I got to the point where I was asked to connect the adapter, I was stalled. The software did not recognize that the adapter was already connected. I am at a loss about what to do. I will call Dlink again and will probably spend the night "yelling" at some technician until they understand what I am telling them. I am open to suggestions on what to do with the adapter and how I can get it to work.
Thanks
