THE MOST FRUSTRATING 10 DAYS OF MY LIFE.
« on: December 03, 2021, 12:16:10 PM »

WI-FI Router DIR-1750-US - S/N TM1910B001622 - H/W Ver A1 F/W Ver 1.11
WI-FI Extender DAP-1955-US - S/N TM4R208000212 - H/W Ver A2 F/W Ver 1.03
The extender is located 10 feet vertically and 16 feet horizontally from the router. Separated by a wood floor and 1 plaster & wood lath wall.
One thing I have learned is that setting up, rebooting and or saving anything with regards to these products, takes along time. Before you get to the completed procedure you may be 4 or 5 minutes watching the kettle boil.
I have set this up with both MESH and just as an extender. I have given up on the MESH and will be happy with just a functioning extender. Before you ask, I have changed the name and password of the WI-FI extender.
I have set up this extender now 15 times over the last 8 days. Using all of the setup procedures except the network cable attached method.
Each attempt is preceded by a unit reset.
I get the extender setup and I have all steady green lights. I unplug the extender and move it to the upstairs location, plug it in and it goes through the start up cycle. Finishing the start up cycle I have 3 solid green power lights and the WPS light is solid green.
This condition remains the same for a few hours and then I have no access to the extender, through the web interface of through the WI-FI devices. Previous to this fault I had had access.
Sometimes I go to the extender and find it with all of the lights still steady green sometimes I find that the WPS light is flashing amber. Sometimes just the WPS is flashing red.
The bottom line is that once it is set up, I would like it to stay set up.

What channels are you using on the DIR router?

Have you factory rest the DIR router as well and setup from scratch?

DAP maybe too close to the router, what happens at 20-25 feet away from the DIR router?

This whole mess may now be moot. I came home today and my router was rebooting over and over. I managed to reset the configuration to OEM but reboot continued.
New one on the way. We will see then.
