Bittorrent with authentication - where are the BT client logs?
« on: September 08, 2009, 10:49:31 PM »

I've setup Bittorrent, it works just fine with public torrents. However, there is a private site I use for torrents which uses authentication. Whenever I try to add one of those torrents, it doesn't work.

The user interface for the default DNS323 BT client is less than helpful, it doesn't show any errors. I would love to find a way to get to the logs to see any tracker errors so I can take a stab at fixing them (on my PC for example the tracker gives me "refused" or "Can only leech from one location at a time" if I'm not properly logged in in my browser).

Thanks a lot.

I had the same issue and it took couple of hours to figure it out. In my case - and most likely yours too - the issue was banned torrent client-programs on those private tracker-sites which I'm using. In many cases, private trackers only accept certain torrent client-programs and DNS-323 -client is not allowed.

As you have noticed, after you have add .torrent from those sites nothing happen. I tried with this one private tracker which don't have any rules what comes to client-programs and my torrent was downloaded successfully in no time at all.

So if you have chance, try with private tracker which don't have any rules what comes to client-programs to confirm this. Hopefully this was useful.
