There's really no way, except for stop announcing you to the world. What are you trying to accomplish by asking that anyway?

ive heard this router has issues with too many incoming connections, which slows down bittorrent. just optimizing right now.

Not really correct, almost every router in this class (standard firmware) has the same limits.
torrents work fine, as long as you limit the number of incoming connections in your BT client. So BT is causing this, suffering from its own way of working.
