Hello All,
Excellent forum; it's helped me out tremendously. I've purchased a handful of the DNS-323 units over the past year, and considering their price, they generally work fairly well. That being said, I have a couple of nagging issues that I've been unable to locate definitive answers on:
1. Folders that can not be deleted.
Every once in a while, a folder is created that although I can see, I cannot access or delete. I've tried with a small variety of MS operating systems & file manages with no success. Sometimes, they eventually disappear, but I'm getting an increasing amount 'dead' folders listed.
2. Cannot see or access certain folders.
Initially, I used SyncBack (2brightsparks.com) to transfer a couple of dozen folders to the DNS-323. Most copied correctly and are used daily. However, I (eventually!) noticed that a few folders weren't there. I thought I had missed them and attempted to recopy to absent folders, but received a 'folder already exists' error. So basically, I'm positive there's a folder (or at least directory entry) for:
\\192.168.1.200\Volume_1\1994
But cannot see or manipulate it in anyway. The DNS-323 has no user restrictions or quotas; everything is opened up. I've restored to system defaults following a couple of other posts, with no change. I've also tried a couple of different firmware versions (1.07 and 1.08).
Because of the amount of data, I'd prefer not to format & recopy.
Does anyone have any insight?
3. Power
Power failures are not uncommon where I reside. The fact that there's no 'hard' power switch, in my experience, is a design flaw. For this reason alone I'm considering an alternative. Does anyone have a possible work around solution?
Thanks in advance for everyone's time.
