Slow rate with windows update drivers 7.7

On vista, Windows update suggested me to upgrade the atheros drivers, I did and with the version 7.7, the transfer rates are noticeably slower. On 7.6, my adapters has 50% signal and over 100mbps. With 7.7, the rate seems to always slow down to 49 mpbs and signal isn't more than 30%.
