Did you do something different?  Maybe it's related to the date?  I'll set mine up again to see if it starts.

Actually mine has been setup for weeks, just verified it.  I just changed the time from midnight to 1:01 AM.  Let's see if it starts working.

Well, I have just finished trying almost all the hours in the daily and all the days in the weekly, none have worked for me. Yet it sends the space status every day and it will send the SMART test results when I run the drive tests, but it sends them immediately. Very funky indeed!  ???

I wonder if maybe it has to do with what options are enabled in the email alert page? Currently I have all my options enabled while trying to get it to send anything but just the space status.

This issue should be resolved in the next firmware release. Removing the BT client should fix the issue if you must have it working daily or downgrading to 1.02.

Stupid question time... How do I remove Bit Torrent from the DNS-321 running firmware 1.03?  I didn't even know it was supported, shows you how much I used that feature.

I tried a search but I kept getting other NAS's in this forum, not the one we are discussing here.

Add-ons...did you install the BitTorrent client?

Nope, did not add any add-ons or Fun Plug either.  Just stock with firmware 1.03.

I see. That could be the cause in some cases anyways this issue has been confirmed and should be resolved in the next firmware release.

No problem, I can wait.  I'm just happy the NAS is working very reliable, for what I'm using it for.  Now if you could add a turbo charger and headers to this bad boy, it would be smokin' at this price.

Just an idea. I am not home, so I can not verify this, but I believe the DNS-321 reports both the drive type and serial number on the management panel. If you had a real life drive failure you could check the serial number of the remaining drive and thus identify which one is failed. I am pretty sure the serial number is printed on the HDD itself too.

Relative references (left/right) are confusing because depending on which direction you look at it left can turn to right... Unless and until the machine has clearly labeled (A/B or 1/2) drive bays reporting the serial number of the drive in error would be a nice plus. Maybe in 1.4? (Of course for this the unit would have to store the serial number of the last used drive for each bay.)

I know the email for a drive failure only references left or right.  I agree that you should be able to check the hard drive status page to figure out which one it is and the serial number, at least of the good one.
