Wireless is stable as long as I don't use AES on this Router
« on: December 06, 2009, 03:15:53 PM »

I bought this router a few days ago, and I have finally got the Wireless network to remain stable with all my wireless clients.  I found that using AES encryption caused a lot of wireless resets and client disconnections.  So, I disabled AES and I have had no more wireless resets or disconnects.   And WOW, this router is much better and faster than my really old Linksys 54GS which I bought over 5 years ago.

I had firmware 1.21 out of the box, but I upgraded to 1.32NA while troubleshooting the wireless issue which may not have been necessary.

Here are the clients I have connected to this router;

Hardwired
HP 6200 series PC
Weather Direct LaCrosse adapter

Main Wireless (G & N only, WPA & WPA2, TKIP only)
Gateway 6100 series PC with Airlink 300N USB stick @300Mbps
Dell XT2 tablet PC (54g only inside)
Nintendo Wii gaming console

Guest Zone (WPA only, TKIP Only)
Sprint HTC Hero smartphone because of issues with WPA2 connections from this device since I think it only does AES in WPA2.

Since you are using WPA and WPA2 you could (should) have left the encryption at TKIP or AES.
You are forcing all clients to use WPA as TKIP is not supported on WPA2.
