Hi all, I had my DNS323 configured to use giabit lan. But I had to return my gigabit router and now i'm temporarily using a 100Mbps router. now I can't access my DNS323 by using the IP address. if i use the Easy Search utility, it shows up with its IP address and if I click the configure button, it doesn't come up on IE. if I click on the button to create a drive mapping, it doesn't work either. how do I access my DNS 323?
-
Is your DNS-323 using a static IP address? If so, perhaps your replacement router is on a different subnet to the previous one? E.g. 192.168.0.x vs. 192.168.1.x. If your NAS is on a different subnet to the rest of your network you'll most likely have this issue.
-
no its on the same subnet. I know what the IP address, but when I type it in IE, it doesn't load. I think its cause my DNS 323 is set for 1000Mbps and my router is 100Mbps. and its set for dhcp

If your PC or laptop has a gigabit port you can connect directly to your NAS and change the setting in the web configuration.
Or, you could do a factory reset (drastic)
-
1. if i connect the nas to my PC, do i use a regular network cable or crossover?
2. if i do a factory reset, does it delete the data?
-
You shouldn't need a crossover cable thanks to a technology built in to new network ports that can autodetect and switch the transmit and receive.

Factory reset does not format your data.

i tried connecting to it with my laptop and a network cable but it couldn't access it. i'll try a crossover cable
-
The gigabit port on the NAS is Auto-MDIX so a crossover isn't needed.
When connected, could you ping it? You would have needed to configure your laptop NIC to be on the same network as the NAS- and it should be gigabit if that's the issue in the first place.
-
both the laptop and the nas is set to gigabit. i don't have the laptop plugged in right now. i didn't try pinging it. my router says its IP address is 192.168.0.101, but when i run the easy search utility, it says the iP address is 192.168.0.32. i tried accessing that IP but still couldn't access it.
-
ok i pushed in the reset button with a paperclip for about 3 seconds, and i still can't access it.
-
ok i got in. thanks for your help dude.

since you're here, is there a way to have the nas go in suspend mode between certain times instead of after certain amount of hours of innactivity?
-
Glad you got it working.
As for your question, not that I know of. It will only spin down the disks after x time of inactivity.

Might be able to do it using cron - but this would require you to install a fun_plug to enable shell access to the unit.
