Hello i have a dir-645 And i had linksys and it keept getting random disconnected but so does this one just in an other way. So whenever am playing a game online i get to connect to the server/game but after 1 min or 2 i get disconnected from the game but the internett still works it's just the game it stops it says lost connecten to host always i tried a few things but still and i can't test so much am hoping if any one know the problem and just can tell me what to do :/ Please help and am on laptop gaming so wireless :)
-
And am willing to use team viewer
-
If you can download files at the same time you are playing games, and the file transfer works ok even though you get disconnected in the game. Then the problem could be related to games, and not the dlink it self.
Have you tried forwarding the port related to the game, does that work. Sometimes games do not work proper unless you forward the correct ports for the game in question.
Worth a try at least

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41537.0)
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
Has a Factory Reset been performed?
What games are you playing? PC or game console?
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
Double NAT (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm)
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.
If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.
Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53008.0)
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.
Turn off ALL QoS (http://vonage.nmhoy.net/qos.html) or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual or under Setup/PARENTAL CONTROL/Set to>None: Static IP or Obtain Automatically From ISP.
Enable Use Unicasting (compatibility for some ISP DHCP Servers) under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
If IPv6 is an option on the router, select Local Connection Only or Disable IPv6 options under Setup/IPv6.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding rules. Disable IPv6 Multi-cast Streaming if IPv6 is not being used.
Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced.
WAN Port Speed set to Auto or specific speed? Some newer ISP modems support 1000Mb so manually setting to Gb speeds can be supported by the router. Advanced/Advanced Networking/WAN Port Speed
Set current Time Zone, Date and Time. Use an NTP server feature. Tools/Time.
Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.
Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAT6)
You may want to set up QoS as an example here:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=44869.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=44869.0)
Set up 2 rules, one for your gaming devices and set a high priority and then create another rule for any other devices, and set that rule for a low priority.

Well am wireless i have done factory reset some times amd playing pc laptop i have cable Ummmm but today i also notice that every 1 min the internett drops out like 2 sec it doesnt show that i lost connection but i notice it becouse when i refresh a ping of any games sometimes it comes 10000 (or can't connect) and when i just surfing the internett sometimes it takes 10 sec to connect to a page or refresh it and it usaly only take 5 sec hardware version is a1 firmware 1.01 i can't update the firmware for some reson when i go to browse what the name of firmware name (find the update) or well when i press the browse nothing happens if i try to copy where the location of the file (update) is nothing happens can't write in the box nothing :/ and for some reson i can't connect with wire to the d-link it says identefying then nothing happens .. :/

Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something thats already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer (http://www.metageek.net/) to find out. How many?
Try turning off Short GI, WLAN Partition, and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Enable WMM Enable (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50738.0) Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Try setting Medium or Low power output settings and test again Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

How far away is the one gaming device from the router when gaming over wireless?
You may have too many wireless devices connected when gaming. I don't recommend gaming wirelessly and LAN wired cable is preferred and highly recommended.
There is newer FW out there however I'm not sure if it will help.

Be aware that older model routers do not have the "Good Neighbor Policy" that is now required of all Mfr wireless routers. This tells routers that they need to play nice near other WiFi routers such as neighbors. Older routers were causing problems with other routers and thus the reason for this requirement.
Set up some IP reservations and set WiFi to Mixed G and N only and WPA2 and AES only. Should work well.
Try setting Medium or Low power output settings and test again Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Ensure any PC or laptop wireless adapter drivers are up to date and well.
Keep us posted.
-
Still don't work did what u said :/ i will try again now with low porwe input instead of medium.
-
Does this happen with ALL other devices turned OFF and just your gaming PC going?
-
well when i tested it nothing else was connected not even my cellphone so yea :/
-
You have a different PC you can test the gaming out on by chance? Just wondering if the problem might follow if you use a different PC.
This only happens while gaming? All other devices don't exhibit any problems while connected?
-
well i have a spare pc just got a new one but allready tested it happends there aswell and it only happens when gaming as i have seen i only get disconnected after joining a game like 1-5 minutes in the gaming i loose the connection all other things work out great with the internett
-
but the uptime (the timer show how long the internett have been up) it doesnt show that it droped out either when i get disconnected from the games online
-
Ok so that tells me that the router is maintaining the connection.
Is the spare PC wired or wireless?
Can you test this main PC with a wired connection as a test to see if you get the same problem?
-
Well i said this erlier i can't connect wired with the internett with either of the laptops i don't know why i tried does it mayby have any thing with the internett blocking me out of it ? mayby something with fire wall or something?

which one is the PC in question?
I recommend editing that last post for private content. Full MAC and WAN IP addresses are not needed. Just the last 2 characters is recommended.
-
and but i see that the timer (connecton to internett) sometimes drops get up to around 3 min then drops but i loose connection to game before and after the drop
-
both pc can't get wired connection and if u mean in the log the pc listed there was the main one mine the new one
-
Need to try find a way to test your pc(s) on a wired connection to see if it happens there as well.
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
-
hmmm for somereson all the games i play on works again like it works now exsecpt one game atleast :/ :o
-
SO i think every thing works now as it should mayby the last game just need some portforwarding
-
What game is this? If I may ask?
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
And what is your ISP Speed UP and down that you pay for?
-
DayZ But ummm now the timer of the connection when it drops i get disconnected so now the router can't keep the internett up ._.
-
i got cable i don't know wich isp modern mfr model i have Home resident or something it says on it am not sure what isp speed up and down my mom pay for she doesn't know either :/ sorry
-
You might get ahold of your ISP and see if they notice any dis-connections on there side and with the ISP modem.
If you can find the Mfr and model on the modem. Look at the stickers, would help us get an idea of what you have. Might be something going on here between the ISP modem and router. You might ask your ISP for a newer or upgraded modem model.
The only reason why the router looses connections to the ISP modem or services is bad cable, mis-configuration or a drop in service at the ISP modem...
-
Okay will check
-
My mom gonna call the isp and have them check and i will check what modern i have soon
-
residential gateway, allied telesyn , model AT-RG613SH, Is some of the things it said on the modern Does it help?
-
This is a modem with a built in router I believe:
http://www.alliedtelesis.com/media/datasheets/rg613_ds_e.pdf (http://www.alliedtelesis.com/media/datasheets/rg613_ds_e.pdf)
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.

If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.
A preferred modem would be to have a stand alone modem with out a built in router.
The information on this ISP modem tells me that there is probably a problem with the modem and having an built in router already. :-\

I would try new modem.
-
Well i just sat up the old linksys and updated the firm ware so far it works great so my mom still gonna call the ones who provides the intrenett and have them check and ask for a new mordern and then ill try the dlink again becouse the linksys is old and not that good any more so

Also getting DHCP DISCOVER, OFFER, REQUEST, ACK every 30minutes.
DHCP Unicast disabled by default, gonna try Enable it now afew minutes.

no game disconnects after enabling DHCP Unicast
router log still displays: DHCP: Client receive ACK from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, IP=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, Lease time=1200.

So gaming is working again now after enabling Unicast?
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address then check for DHCP Client ACK messages.
