Hi, i have tried to update the firmware on my new DNS-320 several times using several differnat firmware versions (2.0 2.2 and 2.3) and from several locations (from DL folder, desktop and off one of the NAS drives) the computer I'm updating from is wired in not Wifi.
I ALWAYS get exactly the same message popping up. "Upload firmware fail. Please retry again."
Can anyone suggest what i am doing wrong? I am downloading the file from the D-Link site in the US as the firmware on the UK site is absent. but i cant imagine they have changed the FW from US English to UK English.
Also the files are showing as "Files" not zips or anything like them.
would really appreciate help with this one, this is my first NAS and its rapidly becoming more hassle than it is worth.

Try downloading the worldwide (WW) version of v.203 from the D-Link Taiwan site at D-Link Taiwan Downloads (http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/).

yup just tried, exactly the same result.
-
should also say im currently using version 1.0

What hardware version is your DNS-320?

B1

I'm not 100% sure, but the fact that your hardware version is "B1" may be the root cause of this issue. The firmware you've been trying to upload is designed for hardware versions A1/A2. Other D-Link products have unique firmware based on the hardware version.
I see you are from the UK, but did you purchase the unit from a domestic (UK) retailer?
I can't seem to find a B1 firmware version in any of the usual places. :-\ ???
-
yes, i purchased from www.scan.co.uk
found here: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/d-link-dns-320-sharecenter-pulse-2x-sata-hdd-bay-12-in-1-nas-server-with-raid-gigabit

Dave, if you go to the D-Link tw site that JavaLawyer posted above, plug in DNS and 320 you will get a list of all the available firmware. Just scroll down until you get to the B1 section and select what you want.

Unless I'm missing something, the TSD site only seems to have v1.0X for the B1 hardware.

You could be correct I never actually went to the site to look - I have the information about where to find firmware and programs in our database.
-
Iv downloaded and successfully updated using the "DLINK_DNS320B.1.00b03(3.07.0424.2012)(BETA)"
So there is no Version 2.0 for B1? seems like a bit of a raw deal considering i have only bought it in the last week.
-
At least we've identified the root cause. I'll do some digging and ask if there is a more recent B1 firmware version out there.
-
Thank you for your help javaLawyer. I appreciate it.

any progress java?

Haven't heard back from anyone yet, although I can't seem to find any other B1 firmware version in any of the usual locations. :-\ ???

Seems that the B1 Firmware is the new hardware design (my case was only moulded in January 2013 and my chips similarly date coded) so it probably incorporates the updates of the older versions. Tried the problems shown in older versions and they seem to have been remedied already anyway. If there is to be an update then my guess is that it will not be yet until someone finds a problem!
-
If it helps, I have the EXACT same problem as dave_c mentions.
I'm in the UK, I bought my 320 from Amazon ( in the UK ) and its B1 hardware.
The firmware is 1.00.
Extremely confusing to say the least because I was trying to update mine ( thinking it was out of date ) and was getting the same error message. So I hope I do have the latest version at 1.0 ... ::)
I hope this helps anyway.
The reason I was trying to update, was im having issues with Samba, I just cant see the nas, in windows unless I FTP to it or via the dlna... ???

Me too, got my DNS-320 from Amazon in the UK and had tried updating the firmware only to notice mine is also hardware revision B1 with firmware v1.00 dated 24th April 2012 which is a little worrying considering the amount of firmware and more recent updates for hardware revision A1...
-
The last stable firmware version for hardware (H/W for short) revision A1 or A2 is v2.03 (aka 2.03b03) dated Sep 23, 2011. Whilst the last known firmware release for H/W revision B1 is v1.01b02 dated Jul 2, 2013.
Firmware version between H/W revision is not compatible.
-
Well i found DNS-320_B1_FW.1.00b03 for hardware B1, it seemed to accept the file and inform me that firmware had been updated, but upon rebooting the NAS the firmware level remained the same as before, v1.00
v1.01b02 appears to be for the DNS-320L anyway?

Nope, the latest version for DNS-320L is v1.02b07 dated Mar 29, 2013.

Firmware version 1.01b02 is a pre-release beta for the DNS-320 revision B1 that is still undergoing internal QA testing and has not been released for public use.
As albert has pointed out, the A and B hardware series have two independent firmware upgrade paths that are not cross-compatible.
