Unable to update DNS-320 firmware
« on: May 12, 2013, 01:55:04 PM »

Hi, i have tried to update the firmware on my new DNS-320 several times using several differnat firmware versions (2.0 2.2 and 2.3) and from several locations (from DL folder, desktop and off one of the NAS drives) the computer I'm updating from is wired in not Wifi.

I ALWAYS get exactly the same message popping up. "Upload firmware fail. Please retry again."

Can anyone suggest what i am doing wrong? I am downloading the file from the D-Link site in the US as the firmware on the UK site is absent. but i cant imagine they have changed the FW from US English to UK English.

Also the files are showing as "Files" not zips or anything like them.

would really appreciate help with this one, this is my first NAS and its rapidly becoming more hassle than it is worth.

Try downloading the worldwide (WW) version of v.203 from the D-Link Taiwan site at D-Link Taiwan Downloads.

I'm not 100% sure, but the fact that your hardware version is "B1" may be the root cause of this issue.  The firmware you've been trying to upload is designed for hardware versions A1/A2. Other D-Link products have unique firmware based on the hardware version.

I see you are from the UK, but did you purchase the unit from a domestic (UK) retailer?
I can't seem to find a B1 firmware version in any of the usual places.  :-\  ???

Dave, if you go to the D-Link tw site that JavaLawyer posted above, plug in DNS and 320 you will get a list of all the available firmware.  Just scroll down until you get to the B1 section and select what you want.

Unless I'm missing something, the TSD site only seems to have v1.0X for the B1 hardware.

You could be correct I never actually went to the site to look - I have the information about where to find firmware and programs in our database.

Iv downloaded and successfully updated using the "DLINK_DNS320B.1.00b03(3.07.0424.2012)(BETA)"

So there is no Version 2.0 for B1? seems like a bit of a raw deal considering i have only bought it in the last week.

At least we've identified the root cause. I'll do some digging and ask if there is a more recent B1 firmware version out there.
