- Ensure the default (dlink) SSID name is changed. Can be anything and not something thats already in use by any neighboring WiFi routers. Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
- What wireless modes are you using?
- 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N on 5Ghz?[/b]
- Try setting a manual Channel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_channel) to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
- What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Encryption_Standard), so you might want to try TPIK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporal_Key_Integrity_Protocol) only or Auto TPIK and AES.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."

What Freq is the XB1 connected too? 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz?

Hey grinch I replied to you message before reading all your posts, check you inbox.
From what it looks like, and I am guessing your trying to connect to the 5ghz side. If so, your in mix mode with "AC" active. If your not running any "AC" clients, does the router have mix mode for B,G,N only?? If so select that one and I guarantee, it should be a lot smoother and a reliable connection to the X1.
Also turn off stream boost and make sure you have you uplink/downlink set at 10/100.
Hope this helps, this is one of the best forums and Furry knows his shizzle ;D
Let us know how things work out and we want a full report
Peace

its connected to 2.4 no cordless phones only cell phone HT20/40 Coexistence is grayed out can not check anything yes other wifi around me but none on same channel i am getting a 4 bar connection but connection speed drops on the xbox and lag on xbox and ps4 to only thing i can think of is my cable modem Motorola Surfboard model SB6120 causing problems or the dish hopper internet connector

What browser are you using? HT20/40 should not be grayed out..and should be selectable...
Web Browser Configurations
What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
Clear all browser caches.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
Enable phishing and malware protection
What FW version is currently loaded on the router?
What is the distance between the router and XB1?
Please test the XB1 connected to the 5Ghz radio, single mode N, WPA2/AES only.
The SB 6120 is a good modem. I have this same model mode and works well.
One thing, I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.

I'm having trouble with a constant wireless speed :Im getting a 4 bar connection when i check xbox detailed network statistics Shows 28 megs up Then when i check it again it shows a big drop What would cause that problem ?
Have you tried plugging the XB1 directly into the cable modem and checking the Network Details a few times? I get pretty inconsistent results from that test whether I'm hard wired to the cable modem or the 5500.

Also noticed you have it on auto channel on the 2.4. I would suggest running inSSIDer and finding a less congested channel and using a "fixed" channel versus auto. I think you'll find a better stable signal.
Also another suggestion, you may want to try a different dns server and see if that helps as well.
Here is a great utility that will give you info you would have never known about...secrets out now ;D

Odd, should not be grayed out:
Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using Link> teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) if your interested. Its safe and secure.

You should run inSSIDer first and figure out which channel on the 2.4 has less clutter/traffic. Rule of thumb 1,6 or 11. Make sure it is a fixed channel not auto. Then run the DNS utility as I suggested you may find that your current DNS settings MAY not be giving you a "snappy" service. That utility will divulge better, useful results that you can use and benefit from a better snappier/smoother internet, both on the wired and wireless. If you find a better DNS than what you are currently using, I suggest testing it on 1 LAN machine, running speed tests and open different tabs. You should see an improvement.
As mentioned in my previous posts, I upgraded from 15/1 to 50/5 TWC, having the extra bandwidth is great, running the DNS test yielded results that were telling. The DNS servers that I had been using since 2003 (earthlink DNS) were poor. Even after I upgraded to a faster bandwidth, there was some noticeable difference there, but after I found a BETTER DNS servers, huge difference in terms of how intense adobe flash pages pulled smoother quicker and no hiccups. In addition, if your using WIndows OS, you should do a DNS flush. Command prompt>ipconfig /flushdns.

Lex, are you seeing HT20/40 grayed out on your unit? ???

No. Might I suggest to the OP that what ever web browser he is using that he clear the cache. ;D

Which browser did you use to upgrade the FW?
I'm wondering if the FW load is corrupt on your unit somehow...

HT20/40 will grey out depending on your other settings, I'm not sure what exactly causes it, but I know when I was changing other settings like TKIP/AES/N mode/G mode/etc. that HT20/40 would be changeable one time, and not changeable the next.
For example, right now with G-only mode, channel 11, WPA2 only, AES, HT20/40 is greyed out.

Can someone try single mode N? ???
