Hello, i just baught the dir 810l because it has QoS settins i had the dir 615 before and it had QoS but couldnt settup manually , i need to settup QoS because i live in a abiding house and share Internet , few people stream tv and such which slows me down, i play call of duty on playstation 4. So im setting up the new router soon and want to settup QoS , but im not to sure how to, i know the manual explains somewhat but not what everything is, i know i have to do speed test on wifi by router and enter the down n up speed and about 85 percentage of that , but im not sure what local ip range, local port range, remote port range and remote ip range , i have no idea what to put there, it would be alot easier if you could just enter the mac address of ps4, also i need to set a priority of 1-4 , so i could make it 1 priority right? Could i put automatic uplink speed instead of measure it from speed test through wifi which may not be accurate ...And also for protocol would it be udp or tcp? Idk if i could call dlink when setting it up if they would be able to help and tell me what to put or not, may try that if noone can help here

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41537.0)
- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
- What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
- What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
- What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
I recommend reviewing this to help you set up QoS for gaming and managing other devcies:
Gaming and QoS for XBL (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42011.0)
Gaming and QoS for PlayStation (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=16330.0)
These are examples of settings you can use. I would put the PS4 at a priority of high or 50 and set a All Other Devices rule at a priority of normal or 128.
You'll need to reserve IP addresses for all of your devices as mentioned below:
Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.
- Turn off ALL QoS (http://vonage.nmhoy.net/qos.html) or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options, Advanced/QoS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quality_of_service) or Gamefuel. For the DGL-5500, review this for Streamboost information and settings: Furry's DGL-5500 Review (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=55136.0)
- Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual or under Setup/PARENTAL CONTROL/Set to>None: Static IP or Obtain Automatically From ISP.
- Enable Use Unicasting (compatibility for some ISP DHCP Servers) under Setup/Internet/Manual.
- Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking. Link>Finding Faster DNS Addresses using Name Bench (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53222.0) and input new DNS addresses under Setup/Internet/Manual.
- Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.
- Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- If IPv6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipv6) is an option on the router, select Local Connection Only or Disable IPv6 options under Setup/IPv6.
- Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall. Enable or Disable SPI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPI) to test.
- Enable uPnP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upnp) and Multi-cast Streaming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicast) under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding rules. Enable IPv6 Multi-cast Streaming for routers that have a Media Server option. Disable IPv6 Multi-cast Streaming if IPv6 or Media Server is not being used.
- Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced.
- WAN Port Speed set to Auto or specific speed? Some newer ISP modems support 1000Mb so manually setting to Gb speeds can be supported by the router. Advanced/Advanced Networking/WAN Port Speed
- Set current Time Zone, Date and Time. Use an NTP Server (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48695.0) feature. Tools/Time.

Im in ontario canada, we have tek savvy Internet and use cable Internet . Found this manual online for the router http://www.manualslib.com/manual/548452/D-Link-Dir-810l.html?page=81#manual http://www.manualslib.com/manual/548452/D-Link-Dir-810l.html?page=82#manual so i guess id set a name, and do the number priority and says up to 1-4 for a priority right, so id put 1? Instead of doing the percentage one number would be easier ... And for protocol is it udp? And for uplink downlink speed can you set it to automatic ? because id have to do speed test on wifi idk how accurate that is. And i have no idea what local ip range local port range remote ip range remote port range are? What do i do there? Isnt there a way to just put the mac address of my playstation 4 in? The playstation 4 is only thing im prioritizjing.
-
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
Ya You'll need to use the QoS Rules to ensure that your PS4 gets high priority and set another rule for the reset of the devices and put them at a normal or lower priority so that they get some bandwidth while the PS4 gets more. Only 2 rules are needed. Use the Single game console rule with global ports for the PS4 and use the AllOtherDevices rule for the reset of the devices. Look at the pictures for examples. I use them on my router and works well.
-
The modem is a Thomson modem . Model DCM476. Got some info that was on the router, model dir 810-L A1... H/w ver A1 f/w ver 1.01. So when settings the rule i have to set the ps4 priority and that and ad d everything else to set rules and priority for every device on the router ? Any way you could tell me what to fill in . The manual I linked should have evenything I need to fill in I don't know what to put in . Doesn't look like much to fill in just a few things right .
-
I wanna make sure the setting are right or it wont even work, if when i do speed tests it changes how do i know what to put for uplink n downlink speed . Protocol is eaither tcp or udp isnt it, would it be udp i put. And i have no idea what to put for local port range, local ip range, remote port range, remote ip range ? Thats pretty much only thing i have to fill in and im not sure what to put there. Id really like to get QoS working because the connection is good but not when someone is watching netflix or streaming movies online, it makes trying to play call of duty un playable, so i really wanna make sure i get settings right. I appreciate your help very much !
-
Use both for TCP/UDP.
Use the Single Xbox Global rule and All Other Devices Rule examples seen here:
Gaming and QoS for XBL (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42011.0)
Let us know if you need more help, Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using Link> teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) if your interested. Its safe and secure.
-
Any status on this?
Maybe we can teamview and review the router settings...
-
We tried today but we kept getting kicked out it would refresh page and lose everything so were goona have to call dlink see why it does that, landlord was using her iphone so maybe thats why, we got as far as enabling QoS , putting the uplink speed to 1 mb, when i do speed tests it varys around 1-1.5 ish, but it kept saying it should be like 8 mb or something but our upload isnt that high. Then for local ip range i put ip address of my ps4 in to and from.. And put priority 1 and protocol both, but thats far as we got quit trying kept refreshing . Is that part right? Can i copy the numbers straight from the xbox example exept ip address ? What about local ip port and remote port range ? Any way you could post what i put in each box, i wanna make sure the settings are right.
-
Yes, use the port numbers 0 and 65535 for both rules.
For Remote IP address for the XBL services, you can use 65.52.0.1 and 65.55.255.254
For the ALL Other Devices rule,
Use 0 and 65535 for ports
For Remote IP address use 0.0.0.1 and 255.255.255.254
-
Ok so i can use those settings for ps 4 even though its xbl rule, so i make on rule for my ps4 with the single xbox rule and one more rule for everything else? How would i fit several ip's of all other devices on one rule
-
Would this be right for ps4 ? Enable QoS , automatic classification , automatic uplink speed or set to 1 mb? connection type : cable name : andrew priority : 1 protocol :both local ip range :192.168.0.106- 192.168.0.106 local port range : 0-65535 remote ip range : 0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255 remote port range : 0-65535
-
And if it is fo you have to set a rule for everything else ? How do i do that for like 5 other devices
-
Yes, all you need is one for the PS4 and one rule for ALL Other devices.
Put Uplink speed to 2Mb
Set the priority to 50 for the PS, when you make the rule for the other devices, use 128 as a priority for them.
Ok so i can use those settings for ps 4 even though its xbl rule, so i make on rule for my ps4 with the single xbox rule and one more rule for everything else? How would i fit several ip's of all other devices on one rule
-
Put uplink speed to 2 mb instead of 1? When I do speed test upload is always 1. Something though won't it not work If its 2 ? So that's only.part I need to change from what I posted. When I do all other devices rule I do same numbers ? Ip range would be different from my ps4 though right . What numbers and info do I put for all other devices . Thanks for helping make sure its right . Goona do it tomorrow
-
Setting it at 2Mb gives the router and modem some head room. It's ok to set it over. The modem and ISP service will still mange the speed.
For ALL Other devices, make sure you have them all collected in sequence for IP addressing, so if you have say 5 devices, not counting the PS, your first device should start at .100, then the next device at .102, all the way up to .105.
Now your beginning Local IP address will start at 192.168.0.100 the TO Local IP address will end with .105.
-
Ok so find out what the ip addresses are if one is 192 168 0 100 n one with highest last three digets being 192 168 0 110 those would be to and from local ip range for all other devices. Theres couple laptops, ps3, cell phone , does that matter? And all other numbers and ports protocol will be same as ps4 ?
-
I set ps4 to 1 0r 50? And all other device to 128 did you say
-
Use 50...
-
Ok and everything else like protocol ports n that its same as ps4 was. All other ip addresses will be 192 168 0 ??? Just last three change , put lowest 3 dight it from ,highest in to. everything else same as ps4 , ok i think i got it now all the infoineed. Now if someone else gets there mac address added to router only put it in the to or from if it happens to be lowest or highest right? appreciate your help alot, goona have to configure the QoS tomorrow i have to wait for my landlord to come shes one who can get in router and bring her ipad, also goona have to ask for everyones ip addresses.
-
I looked at someones cell for ip address it was 192 168 0 103 and i tryed getting it off someones laptop i was told to press start and type d something and then type ip config in little black box and enter, it gave me 192 168 0 101. But when i typed whats my ip in search engine it gave 198 84 152 194. Which would it be for laptops? Will it always start with 192 168 0 , ive still gotta get it from another laptop and a ps3
-
I just checked someone else's laptop and did the dcm in seArch then ip config and it said ip v4 address is 192.168.1.132. Then default gateway said 192.168.1.3. So is thats the ip address for that laptop . Why is it 168.1.132 instead of the 168.0.? Would that be the ip address I need
-
Thats probably due to the main host router not using the same IP address pool as D-Links.
-
So what I can't use that then it won't work .
-
The guy i that had diffrent ip address uses wifi accross the street as well he switches between , maybe he was connected to the one accross the street while we did the dmc ip config thing, is that possible or would that matter. The router we have is d link . So should i try doing the dmc ip config again making sure its connected to our wifi during it? Or can i use that ip address
-
Just re checked it was connected to this router and ip address was the same. Does that make sense, can I still put that ip address in the router , would i just put it in the to or did I do it wrong or something.
-
We only have one router . When I connect to the WiFi accross street I get the 1 instead of 0 as well. So when I checked again on his laptop I looked like he was on this WiFi and still was getting the 1. Will it not work if its wrong or is not wrong, because he's one of people who does stream movies so it needs to work for him having lower priority . But everyone else's is 0 not 1
-
If we go into router setting where it says everyone's mac address wouldn't it say the ip address to or no. And do I have to have a rule for all othwr devices for it to work? I just wanna make sure that I address with 1 is right or wi work because hes the main one who streams , downloads
-
So do I have to make an all other devices rule for it to work or can I just put my ps4 at high priority? If not will that ip address work
-
Can you draw us a diagram of how this router is being connected?
Example, ISP modem or host router? IP address>DIR-810><PS4
Only think you need on your side is 2 rules, one for the PS4 and one for ALL other devices.
-
Idk how I could draw a diagram but we have a isp modem its connected to the dir 810 L router . So I'd need to add all other devices rule,.can I use that one ip address thats different or no.. what other info you need
-
Use 192.168.0.# addresses...
-
So I can't use that ip address that 1 not 0. What if he's one people that are streaming he needs to be on it
-
Could i just put like 192 168 0 100 - 200 or something that would cover everything , and since more devices get added
-
Thats the default setting of DIR series routers already, 192.168.0.100 thru 199.
-
If I just make one rule for my ps4 will it still work ? Idk what to do about the one ip address thats diffrent then others,if I put that one in will it.not work?
-
Yes you can put in one rule. using the default IP address pool should work just fine.
-
Ok so I can just put one rule for ps4 using the one rule for Xbox you linked and what I posted up there would be correct settings for it eh
-
So I just make one rule for ps4 using that Xbox rule everything it says. Except for the ip local to and from put my ps4 ip in the to and from. Everything else same as Xbox rule correct . And that's it just the one rule
-
Yes...
-
Ok so I set enable QoS set my name, protocol both, priority 50, local ip range 192.168.0.106-192.0.106, local port range 0-65535, remote ip range 0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255, remote port range 0-65535. I did that do thats right eh it should work
-
Yes.
-
I did all that and its still lagging .
-
Could it be priority needs to be lower
-
Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using Link> teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) if your interested. Its safe and secure.
-
How hard is that to do and what would it do
-
Not hard to do, it's a free download and stand alone program so you can just run it.
-
Ok so i have to download it, id have to get my landlord to do it from her ipad she has access to router settings, can it be done from a ipad ? And when we download it then that allows you to look at the router settings with us? What would i need to do, just download it and let you know when we download the app
-
Can you let me know what one we would need to download ? Its free?
-
Link> teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com)
-
Ok so just download the one for iPad we could do it from that. its free right. Then once we have it what do i do
-
PM me the ID and PW and I'll connect with you and see if we can configure the router...
-
Ok what is the id and pw , would we find that after download team viewer. And for you to help configure the router we both have to be on team viewer same time?
-
Yes and Yes.
-
Ok. Where do i find pw and Id. My landlord might be able to download it today in a bit if not we will have to set another time. She's not in a lot unfortunately
-
So my landlord.is coming tomorrow were going to download the team viewer app tomorrow afternoon. So hopefully you can do it then. Once we download it what do i do, where do I look for the Id and pw, and then send you that info and you can go on and configure the router. Will it fix the lag forsure ? Maybe I didnt do the thing right. Because while people are watching netflix or streaming its real bad but its fine when there not. So hopfully you can make it so it won't lag lol.
-
Should be able to download it today this afternoon . I'll try to find the Id and pw ,.not exactly sure where it would be but ill personal msg you it .
-
We are downloading it now
-
Can you be on it Tuesday around 11 am - 12 pm est. Idk what time zone your in . We tried other say but you went on at the time
-
Do you have access to the router at your location? I don't think we need the landlord unless you dont' have access to the router...
-
I do.t have access to router. My landlord needs to be here . She's here now we're downloading it so what do I need to do after. were doing it from a iPad so can't use Ethernet
-
When we do it says just type the I'd and you can connect to us. Why do you need password . It's saying you can connect with just id
-
Are you on right now password is L1111
-
Can you still help do that. Tried putting priority to one but Still lags when someone's watching tv on internet . Would getting more bandwidth or even unlimited solve the problem or no
-
Can you help still do team viewer ? We found the password . We set priority to 1 but still lags when someones on netflix and that, what did we do wrong? Can you configure it for us through team viewer we can be on at same time ? And would getting more bandwith through isp fix the issue or no ?
-
Let me know if you need me to check it out. I have been away from the forums.
-
ok so you can still do thw team viewer thing. So I must have thesettings wrong? U can fix it I thought doing this shouldmaje me priority and not lag at all. Hopfully it is the setting wrong and you canc fix its. I'll have to let you know the day time. Because my landlord won't wait here wll day till you on lol. And i wanna get this fixed. Will it actuwlly work can u make it work.
-
Hey its saying I've sent max msg per hour yes ps4 has been off few min now
-
Ok I think I got it all set up now, I'm rebooting the router fully. Turn ON the PS for and check NAT status first...Should be NAT type 2 I Think...
-
Ok turning it on. It was type 2 before as well. Did you have to change something
-
Yeah Nat type is type 2 still
-
Ok thats the only NAT I Think you can get on PS with a modem and router behind the modem...
I set your PS4 at priority 50 and made a 2nd rule for ALL Other Devices and set that rule to 128 priority, so that while your PS4 is online, the PS 4 gets priority even if other devices connect to the router...
-
Ok so it should be good now? Thanks a lot if it works that's awesome. Sound like it should with another rule
-
I'm thinking Bout buying a powerline Adapter that should help improve my speeds eh since I can't get Ethernet
-
possible however wold need to ensure that the PLs will work across the power lines from where the router sits to your place...it may not work or be on the same power line system...
-
I might end up trading my ps4 for a xbox one soon, if i do can you re configure to that, how hard would that be
-
Just change the MAC address for the reserved IP address thats currently set up for the PS4 under Setup/Networking...
-
Would you be able to do it again ? I dont wanna mess it up. Wouldnt qos ip address have to be changed. N i noticed the ip address of my ps4 isnt on ip rangefor qos anymore, now its.199 i think. Thats how its supposed to be?
-
No, I set the .199 address to be the PS4 IP address always so you wouldn't have to change any of the QoS settings. If you get the xbox, then just change the MAC address on that IP address reservation to the new MAC address of the xbox.
Would you be able to do it again ? I dont wanna mess it up. Wouldnt qos ip address have to be changed. N i noticed the ip address of my ps4 isnt on ip rangefor qos anymore, now its.199 i think. Thats how its supposed to be?
-
Ok under setup , network settings. Then down to DHCP reservation list, edit and put xboxs mac address instead of ps4, then save settings ? And then do i have to reboot router and system or no
-
Correct. If u turn on the xbox and change the address, be sure to turn off the xbox, reboot the router then turn on the xbox after router is back to ready.
-
I noticed you changed the dhcp reservation to .199 and it changed my ps4 ip address to the same thing .199 at end. Diffrent then my ps4 ip was before was it supposed to change it. also its not letting me play multiplayer on ghosts it will say error code. I have to restart modem and system then it works. Do u know why that is
-
Yes, it's preferred to have a different IP address and setting up 2 QoS rules for the PS4 and for All other devcies, needed to be outside of the All Other devices rule so .199 is used while the All Other Devices rule is set at .100 thru .150.
Not sure about modem issues...
Try changing the WAN port speed from Auto to 100Mb or try 10Mb and see on the router under Advanced/Adv Networking...
-
Im getting lag again now.. Could i set priority higher? Also i noticed the channel on my ps4 changes sometimes its 1 sometimes 11. Idk what that means.
-
Neex to set a manual channel on the wireless router if u can find a open and clear chl thats not being used.
Ensure that the streaming devce thats is using netflix is with in the all other devices rule ip address range and test the rule by lowering the priority value to 200...
I recommend that u phone contact D-link support for your region for additional help if this fails.
-
I called dlink they said i need to put the ports needed for call of duty in my router, we tried but i need to find the ports to PlayStation and put them in as well , doing that should fix the issue with not getting multiplayer eh? And as for the lag i need to make sure the ip address of device streams netflix is within all other devices rule? If its lower or higher to i just put that ip address in the to or from box depending what it is? And also you say to put all other device rule to 200? And that should fix the lag?
-
The ports for ps4 i googled say tcp: 80,443,1935,3478-3480 udp: 3478 -3479 it was for battlefield but it said those were ps4 ports, but i seen somewhere else PlayStation ports were tcp 80 ,443, 5223 udp 3478,3479,3658. So which do i use. The ps4 im guess?
-
Also you did already set a static ip right, says thats needed
-
Im seeing PlayStation network ports and ps4, idk which to use,
-
Please follow this for inputting ports into PF section:
Gaming and QoS for PlayStation (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=16330.0)
Reserved IP addresses are set for the PS I believe.
-
So ifound the ip address for guy uses netflix its 192 168 0 111 so that should be within it, did you say to try lower all other devices from 128 to 200? because i still get lag.
-
Yes..
-
Ok so dlink talked me through doin the ports. I got the ones from PlayStation which gave me the tcp and udp ports needed. I did those in port forwarding, the ports i got from call of duty were just one set so they told me to put those ports in virtual server since i didnt have both tcp and udp separate . Now most of the ports needed were already saved in the port forwarding which i separated with , and if i tried typing ports that were used ther it said they conflict . So is it fine since those were input already with the PlayStation ports ? There was one that wasnt a PlayStation port 1935 so i could save that one in virtual server . Not to sure if that fixed the issue where i couldnt get in multiplayer ill find out soon. Also i changed all other devices priority to 200 so ill find out soon if that fixed the lag also. hopefully i got the ports right
-
Also we have the router set so only mac address added can access Internet , the setting allow these mac address listed to have access is still there just wondering if something else could have got changed that would let people get access i think some people live here are getting on that shouldn't be
-

You can't have ports forwarded through virtual server and through port forwarding.
Ideally, if you are hosting games, you want to have the ports forwarded through virtual server.
Port forwarding is better for computer applications or if you aren't hosting.
Also we have the router set so only mac address added can access Internet , the setting allow these mac address listed to have access is still there just wondering if something else could have got changed that would let people get access i think some people live here are getting on that shouldn't be
You could monitor the status page and DHCP Reservation page as that has a list of dynamic clients that don't have a reserved or Static IP.
If you have Mac Address Filtering enabled, it should be pretty unlikely anyone has gotten onto the network unless you put them on yourself.
If you really think you are compromised, you can change the the wireless password, the router admin password, and clear everything from the MAC filtering and start over.
-
Ya my game still isnt letting me online multiplayer so the ports must not be in right. I had the tcp and udp ports for PlayStation so i put those in port forwarding and one set of numbers for call of duty ghosts ports so i put those in virtual server . Thing is i did PlayStation first once i tried ghosts some ports well most were already in with the PlayStation so it wouldnt let me save. So your saying i need to do every port thats separated by a comma, put in singly each box? What about if some for ghosts are same as PlayStation do put once or in twice ? Also the ports that are like 3478-3480 i put 3478 in one and 3480 next? What else just make sure protocol both? And give them separat names
-
Maybe MF will have a look with you using TV... ;D
Also if you installed a PL make sure it's not in the All Other devices QoS rule. It doesn't need to be in any rule or need any QoS management I believe.
Give it a reserved IP address of 192.168.0.150 if you see it in the Dynamic DHCP Clients list. Something out side of the AllOtherDevices and PS rule range.
-
You never want the ports in twice.
What is the specific error when you try and go to multiplayer?
I have a few hours now if you want to have me teamviewer in.
-
Also, this might be a bigger issue:
http://community.callofduty.com/thread/200851810
Error 4096 and multiplayer issues are affecting many people.
Furry, how do you feel about putting the PS4 in the DMZ?
-
Yes it does fall in all other device 100-150 it 109. The download n upload test i ran on ny ps4 last night didnt realky go any higher then wifi was, but youtube seems to run without buffer now and wasnt lag last night but that could just been noone was on, would it improve connection tho making it more stable ? I even put eternet direct from router to system test and not really higher then normal up and down eaither, i dont get it tho i brought my system beside router wifi before and i was getting like 15 ,17 down , where as wifi in my room is 3-6 and powerline adapter showing same 5, 6 and direct eternet was same . shouldn't direct be higher . I thought direct was best

Direct should be higher, but are the cables cat5e, cat6, cat 7? Does the router have gigabit ports? The modem? The ps4 itself? Which powerline adapters are you running?
Have you verified that your modem levels are in spec? What speeds are you paying for with your service?
-
Reserve the PLs IP address and change the .109 to 192.168.0.160. You'll need to power off the PL then back on so it gets the new IP address is all after you reserve the new address.
-
Im not sure what eternet cord it was i used just a old blue one. The one end of the eternet connecter was loose wire but still worked i just wanted to see how much improve itd be. As for gigabit yes router has it i think n ps4 should support it, i dont have one tho, what do they do n how much, i need a 100' cord run along ceiling to router if i do end up goin direct some point. As for powerline adapter its a dlink DHP-309AV
-
Remember the 810L only supports 100Mb WAN and LAN connections. Would be nice if it had Gb ports. :-\

What speeds are you paying for internet wise? Download and upload speed. You should be getting that plugged in.
-
Im not sure ill find out from my lanlord what speeds are. Im thinking 20 down atleast if i got 15-16 wifi beside router , maybe it was the cord used? But it did give me connection

Hmm, how many people are connecting to this router? Is this DSL or Cable internet?
-
Like 4 or 5 ppl on wifi its cable

No NAT on modem:

I looked at router still showing the .199 ip in dhcp reservation list not the 109 i have now connection lan powerline adapter . So is that slowing me down im in all other device priority 200 i now fall in the 100-150
-
.199 is set up for the PS. If the PL shows any IP address with in the range of 192.168.0.100-.150, you need to reserve the PLs IP address and change it to .160.
-
Its showing 109 in PS settings. Idk how to reserve it. Could you do it for me again? I dont waana get rid of prioritys in already incase i need to go back to wifi it wont have to done again . If i switch back to wifi connection on ps4 ip changes back to 199
-
So since i got the powerline adapter set up download speed doubled. wifi speed test on my ps4 download was 3-6 mb download now its 7 -15 ! And no prob getting in multiplayer anymore and haven't lagged in ghosts since . My landlord is going to be upgrading Internet soon to better package but more people will be on Internet then, will that make me lag or slow me down or get better since itll be better like high download and bandwith? Keeping the router so QoS setting n that will stay. Also what Ethernet cables are best? I need to replace them for longer ones. I think there category 5 and 5e? Is those kind good or is there better ones besides gigabit cable ?
-
Also im going to be getting a xbox one soon as well as my ps4. Can someone help me setup QoS for that as well? And as for the powerline adapter can i just have a Ethernet cable hooked to each console and just switch to adapter depending which i play? Instead of going behind console each time just have Ethernet cable hooked in back of each and switch cable going to adapter . because theres only one inputs on the adapter

CAT 6 is recommended...

People are acesding the interne WiFi somehow . We have it set for mac filter so only added Mac address can get on but somehow there getting on without being added and they shouldn't be because they don't pay . So do you guys know how they could be. Maybe because thered two bands one not setup right? Passeord was never needed before you have to be saved mac id .something changed thats allowing ppl to get on. And its my landlords internet people pay to use it and she doesn't want a passeord really because prople could give it out and people moving and that. So what could cause this I know there getting on and i know mac filtering is on
-
Does the admin page have PW that is not shared?
If the WiFi security is open then it's possible that users are connecting.
Check the Status/Wireless page for connected WiFi devices against the MAC Filter rules. Are there other connected devices in the status page thats not in the rules?
-
Yea there are people on that are not saved mac address . We have mac filter on so idk how there getting on. Theres a password to loggin router but no password to access wifi . Never was , just mac filter and it always worked till recently musthave changed when we got the new router , but mac filter is still set to on, so i have no idea how there getting on without having there mac address added. What could cause this? Maybe because its dual band router ? Our old router wasnt it was just the 615
-
How many connections or devices are connected?
How many MAC filter rules are being used?
-
There are 13 mac address showing in network filter , and there should only be around 7 -9 . A few macs in network filter are prob left there from previous users who aren't on now . So if turn network filter on and allow devices listed access is ON. How are these people getting on. How my landlord does it is she charges $15 month for Internet , if you pay she adds the mac address of your device to network filter . Now few people are getting on with there cell phones or tablet and it lets them on. before it would say unable to join if your mac address wasnt added.
-
So i set a password. Called dlink they told me how. changed name, put the security from open or none whatever is was to wap protected , and set security key, n changed 5ghz name and set same security key there. So it should be secure now. I just type the password for people that should be on n it should keep them connected w.O require password each time right. So when i saved it now says protected with wpa/wpa 2 n requires password . The signal on my cell is weak now though, sometimes not picking up connection, we have a extender halfway to router so it shouldn't be weak . But we had it set so device would auto connected to extender , would setting the password change something ? My ps4 is still ok because its on the powerline adapter so technicaly lan,
-
Glad you got it working better for you. Enjoy.
-
Do you know why my cell phones wifi isnt good now in my room lucky to get 1 bar before i got 3 or 4. Its a dual band router and mofo set iteach band to do certain like 2 does g n then 5 does ac n n or something , have same password for each, apparent d link said a device will pick what frequency its compatible with automatic , so cell signal got weak once password was set , we have a extender to maybe its not connected to it now that must be it? Think we had it set so device connected to it automatic , i get more bars as i get close to router ...
-
Also since i had powerline adapter i haven't lagged but signal gets weak during day to like 4 or 5 sometimes , and sometimes as high as 15, must change depending whos on or how many people ? I notice it changes alot, but my landlord may get better Internet . Like higher download more bandwith, but then there will be more people on the wifi . So it will be higher download but more people so could it get worse or better, and is unlimited bandwith more important or high download .
-
Great now my ps4 Internet is laggy, since i set powerline adapter up my connection has been perfect no lag at all, and download would range 7 to 15 mb, lowest like 5. Today download is 2 ? And call of duty is lag bad. I dont get it, its been fine till now. Could setting password up mess it up. I did that last night n today its crap . :(
-
I just test on testmy.net download sais 11 mb, ps4 test said 46 kb right after. Thats lowest ever. Somthing messed it up. Even had good connecteion since set up powerline adapter even while someone watchin netflix. Today its craap . Idk whats wrong
-
I got an xbox one as well still have my ps4, its connected to powerline adapter as well, i just switch thee thernet cable which system i play. Now do i need to set up anything in router for the xbox like does ip need change or qos or is it fine as is since its not on wifi.
-
So does a new ip for xb1 need to be made since it falls in allotherdevices now
-
You could use the other IP address if that console isn't being used anymore...
-
I use both consoles i just switch the ethernet which i play, havent noticed lag on titanfall which is only game for it atm, am i loosing speed since im in aod rule i think ip xb1 is.106 or does it matter since im not on wifi with the consoles. If i could be loosing out id like to get new ip for it
-
I would add a reservation and then just add the new IP address to the QoS rule thats already there. Just add it to the beginning or ending range.
-
Could you do that for me? Im not sure how to, it needs the ip address changed to be higher as well?
-
My ip address on xbox one changed, i noticed after the internet was crappy i did speed test it was very low n said upload speed low n high packet loss, i unpluger router then modem in pluged them back. It was .106 now says .102 . It could have changed before i reset router i noticed after, also added guys cell on n i know he downloads music, if its high usually like 14 15 mbps down 1.24 up then once in while super low like 2-4 down .5 up, why would it do tht? If lot ppl on? Why would ip change to, might been from reset internet. Also could someone help me add my xb1 to qos so im out of all other devices rule, still will use ps4 so i would like ps4 n xb1 both priority 1. I could b loosin speed because its in low priority still.
-
Ya that new ip will need to be added to the rule. You can do that.
-
Can you tell me how? If the xb1 ip is 192.168.0.102? Why did it change from .106 and will it again. Right now in the pririty 1 rule i think it has .198-.199, lower is wifi ip for ps4 i think n higher is lan pretty sure. So what do i do put 192.168.0.102 in the to, for priority 1 fr xbox one, n from 192.168.0.199 for my ps4? Dont i have to add the xb1 ip somwhere else to or change it like ps4, bcuz atm it falls in all other devices rule of 100-150, if its 102 in priority 1 rule wouldnt it cancel out.
-
Ya right now its 192 168 0 198 - 192 168 0 199 for priority 1 , for priority 200 its 192 168 0 1- 192 168 0 150, so if it was 102 - 199 prioity 1 wouldnt that add all ip between to priority 1? It needs to have ip changed higher then 150 correct, idk how to do that
-
You need to assign the XB1 IP address reservation to 192.168.0.198 or .199 is all. Under Setup/Networking
-
My ps4 is currently 198 on lan ip the wifi for ps4 is 199,so id replace the wifi ps4 199 make the xbox 199 instead, is it ok to just switch the wifi ip that my ps4 had since i dont need ps4s wifi made just wanna keep ps4s lan 198, so like under that setup do i just type the current xbox ip or lan beside it n it auto makes my xbox 1
99?
-
Ok i see , under dynamic reservation list is says ps4 wired the mac address and 198, then ps4 wifi , mac, and 199. So i just hit edit for wifi ps4, switch name to wired xbox or xboxone, put xboxs mac address and save settings, n it will then auto switch my xb ip to .198? The qos priority 1 already is set to 198-199 so i dont need to change that correct. Do i need to restet router or xb?
-
Yes restart both router and XB.
-
Ok thank you, i did it. Now my xb ip says .199 so it will be in priority 1 not 200, could it improve my connection now that its out of the a.o.d rule? And just noticed i typed mac in lower case that doesnt matter right, ps4 was caps.
-
Yes, it should be good now. ;)
-
I tried messaging you furry, my interent went out today I had called out interenet provider they told us to hit reset button on router not knowing it would take off all the settings on the router so I lost all qos settings and everything, and the reserved ip addresses, so I ant re stup qos until ip of my xbox and playstaion 4 are hanged back to 198,199. and I don't know how to change it, I tried under setup and the reservation part, put name and mac address of xbox and the ip I wanted .199, it didn't change it on my xbox, I restarted both the router and the xbox and it didn't work, can you go into my router again and configure it again? I don't know how to reserve the ips and change them..
-
I had to reset router again, i tried putting the mac addresses in but turned mac filter on before they were in, so i called dlink they had me reset again, but the ip's changed again, i may be able to get qos settings but idk how to change ip of xb & ps to 198, 199 again, can u tell me how
-
I tried under dhcp reserve, i put it in, xbox one name, mac address and i tried putting the ip i wanted, .199 like it was, didnt change xb's ip, it doesnt show in the drop down menu of devices it just showed couple cell phones, id like it setup as it was in qos, priority 1 my xb & ps, .198 - .199, an all others priority 200, 100-150. But my xb n ps are changed again xb is . 103 now
-
Did we not save the routers configuration to file? ???
Send me a PM with the teamviewer ID and PW and a time frame when you are available, I can remote in and help you out.
-
I dont think it was saved to file it was reset to factory settings all settings are gone :( , i messaged you.
-
Ok, I set up your router. Give it a try. PM me a email address so I can send you the saved config file.
-
If i know the ip of someones device that downloads would it work better to lower priority for just them, or would it be same as havin them all other devices? Some1 downloaded update for game on there ps3 or watches movie my download went to like 3, usually 14- 16, could i put my priority 4 xb n ps to 1 and all others 200? Or would it make no diff, is it better as is , priority 50 & 128 now i think
-
Keep priority 50 for XB and PS, if you want try lowering the priority of ALL OTher Devices from 128 to 200 and test.
-
Ive been having issues with titanfall on xbone, get disconnected from server while in menus . Tweeted respawn , the makers of game & they said i should open ports and linked me to site for them, im goona call dlink support have them walk me through it, jw if while im opening ports for titanfall, should i find the ports for xbox playstation callofduty add them to, or is that unnessasary
-
I changed dns on xbox so i can get american netflix, would it effect my internet, didnt change the ip, was worried it would but not atm, i can always go back hit auto it would give old ones back, just seen thing on youtube how to get u.s netflix in can by changing the dns in xb
-
Shouldn't need to input any ports as I set up global ports for your XB and PS that should cover all ports needed by any game or app.
You can change DNS on the consoles.
-
Setup the uplink to 2Mb or 3Mb.
-
Measured uplink speed it 10144 kbps and manual uplink is 128 kbps right now, is that right or change to 2 mbps for manual?
-
Are those uplink speeds correct? Also is it ok to change priority t0 1 for consoles & 200 for all other devices, got 2 % packet loss which usually is 0% & 115 ms ping usually like 85 so was wonderin if change priority will help
-
And if it would help would router need be reset if so can i just reboot from router settings.
-
Bump
-
?
-
Yes should work for Uplink speed, and no, using 1 will starve other users from the internet. Use 200 or 255.
-
Ok so try 200 first if then 255 if it still low speed somtimes. Dont need to reboot router from settings?
-
Just hit save then no need to reboot xb & router ?
-
Im just going to put 200 and save settings , assume i dont need to reboot after saving
-
Crap, I chaned it to 200 . Just backspaced the 128 and put 200 saved settings and the internet went out its been out couple hours now. using Tim hortons WiFi to post. I don't know why that made it go out
-
Sorry about that. you can factory reset, I'm on vacation so I can't help you at the moment.
-
Its back now just unplugged it, all other devices @ 200 and consoles at 50. Cant change more then that? Speed test saying 2 mbps, usually bout 10, it was 14 untill i changed the dns. Also mesured uplink speed sayin not estimated now, manual says 128,
-
How was DNS configured before? with DNS Relay enabled?
-
im not sure. its set to priority 200 for all other devices now.
-
I'd leave the DNS configured alone for now. Priorities should be good for all other devices and 50 for your gaming devices. If you think ALL Other devices aren't doing well, bump up the priority from 200 to 128.
-
Im getting slow speeds somtimes like now download like 8 upload like .15 & get 4-500 latency on xb1 test. Thats insanly high ping, could i put consoles lower? It was at 1 b4 and 200 others, b4 it got reset. Idk if that would help, why ping goes that high somtimes is weird
-
Consoles should never be at 1 priority. I had it set for 50. Please try 50 for game consoles.
-
The consoles are set to 50 now both in there own rule and all other devices at 200, it was 128 i changed it while ago. So just leave as is then , its best itll get then? What would cause latency to go to like 400, 500 ms, doesnt stay for long so far maybe few hour.
-
Also is there a way on router that shows whos on? Like ip's of ppl connected @ that time
-
There is a listing of WiFi devcies under Status/Wireless. You can see who is connected under Status/Device Status/Connected PCs and you can see some under Setup/Networking
Also is there a way on router that shows whos on? Like ip's of ppl connected @ that time
-
Ok, i see listing of ip's and macs on status/Wireless, and setup /network, but for connected pcs did you mean status/ device infp/ lan computers? I seen ip and macs on all, whice one is 100% current time connected ? Also one person on network keeps getting kicked off on his smart tv n cell phone, can qos make other ppl go out? Once in while more ppl go out. But my console and cell phone is still on n my cell isnt on qos its in a.O.D rule.
-
Are you still using this or the 880L? ???
