I have the 327 and four 5020L cameras. I've installed 1 camera thus far and I can see the image on my-dlink.
Now I want to (1) enable recording and (2) install all four cameras.
I've tried to install d-viewcam but I can't get that to recognize the cameras, so that seems to be an obstacle. I also read about something called mysurveillance, but I can't find that, or the webgui for the 327.
What should I do? So frustrated.
Thanks

What version of D-ViewCam are you using? Earlier versions may not recognize the DCS-5020L.
A link to the D-ViewCam FTP site is provided on the following post: Network Cameras - Important Posts & Information (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58121.0)
As far as My Surveillance is concerned, do you see the My Surveillance icon under Home > My Folder?

Where would I see "Home - My Folder"?
Viewcam 3.5.0
Device pack 1.4.10

when you log into the DNS-327L web UI from a browser on a PC located on the same LAN as the DNS-327L. There should be three sections Home, Applications, and Management.

How do I get to web ui? Does computer need to be connected via ethernet or will wifi work?
-
- Connect the PC and DNS-327L to the same LAN (wireless or wired)
- Identify the DNS-327L IP address (this information is obtainable through the router)
- Open a browser on a PC located on the same LAN and enter the DNS-327L IP address as the URL
- The default username and password are Admin and a blank value for password (unless you changed the password during initial setup)

I'm moving this thread to the DNS-327L board (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?board=424.0)

You are giving lawyers a good name. Found my surveillance but have no idea how to launch it.
Found D-ViewCAM FTP Site. What now?

LOL. . . I'm doing my best. ;)

My Surveillance
Right-click on the My Surveillance icon to enable the add-on, then you'll be able to launch it. I believe the add-on only works with IE. I'm not 100% sure the current version of the DNS-327L add-on works with the DCS-5020L. If the add-on doesn't work, please use the following workaround:
- DNS ShareCenter - Use My Surveillance & Surveillance Center w/ New D-Link Camera Models (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=59044.0)
(I use this workaround with my DCS-5020L and DNS-345)
D-ViewCam
If the version you have installed is earlier than the latest version posted on the FTP site (D-VIEWCAM_3.6.0_DP_1.5.4_20131230.ZIP), then upgrade the software.

Weird, sometimes my surveillance launches. Sometimes it doesn't.
How do I get the record function to work and back up to the 327?
-
The add-on will only launch from IE. If you are also using another brand browser, the add-on will not launch. When you press record using the My Surveillance add-on GUI, the videos are automatically saved to the DNS-327L.

The DNS-327L user manual contains instructions on how to configure and use the My Surveillance add-on (Page 323): My Surveillance - User Manual (ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DNS-327L/REVA/DNS-327L_MANUAL_1.00_EN.PDF)

You are the man! I will try to follow this and will update progress. Thanks

Glad to help! ;)

Ok. I can't figure out (1) how to set where the recordings should go, (2) how to start recordings and, possibly, (3) how to play them. I tried the back up feature but that did not seem to work.
-
The video automatically saves to a hidden directory in the DNS-327L. This is fixed and cannot change (as far as I know). The Live Video page contains controls to manually record the live feed. There's also a link that will bring you to the playback screen.
I assume that you've already successfully linked your camera(s) to the add-on and you can see the live feed?
-
How do I access the hidden directory? I can see the live video.
When I click the "Open Record" button, nothing happens. No new window appears.

I don't think that's possible.
As far as recording/playing video are concerned, I think another add-on user will have to chime in here. There are differences between the DNS-327L version of the add-on vs. the one that i use on the DNS-345.

I changed my browser to explorer. Think it now works. I hate explorer!

Yes, the add-on ONLY works with IE. That's explicitly stated somewhere in the documentation. I agree that the dependency is less than optimal. I pretty much never use IE unless the site I'm visiting is dependent on IE to function properly.
-
My surveillance never launches consistently from explorer. Does anyone else have this issue?

I now it's been a while, but do you still continue to have problems with your DNS-327L? I have a similar problem with a unit my friend has, he is using IE 11 on a Windows 8.1 desktop, using F/W: 1.02 from the US support site. The problem seen in our side is that the add-on would launch but freeze at times.
Let me know if you found a solution to your problem, I'm afraid they may be related.
