I'm not having any success with setting up the FTP server with this router.
As for the DNS-323, here is what I have done:
I've setup the Static IP address to my internal network of 192.168.2.12 for this unit. IP address, subnet mask, Gateway, Primary DNS, and secondary DNS have been confirmed. I've setup a user that has access to the root of the drive & below. FTP server is started & is using port 21. Report external IP in Passive mode is not checked. I do have e-mail alerts working (if that means anything - it tested OK). I did setup an administrator password for the unit. The unit is running firmware version 1.08. There are two 2TB Western Digital drives in the bays.
As for the F5D8235-4, here is what I have done:
I've setup the Static IP address to my internal network of 192.168.2.1 for this unit. IP address, subnet mask, Gateway, Primary DNS, and secondary DNS have been confirmed. Firewall is enabled. Virtual Server is set to inbound port of 21-21 (for the range), Type TCP, Private IP address of 192.168.2.12, and Private Port of 21-21 (for the range). Access Control is disabled. I don't have anything in the DMZ zone. My DynDNS server is enabled with my login username at DynDNS.org, password for DynDNS.org, and the hostname I chose at DynDNS.org. The unit is running firmware version 2.01.08. The drive is connected to the router thru an Ethernet Switch. I can ping both devices. I can connect to the unit via ftp://192.168.2.12 (from within the home network), but when I type if ftp://hostname (from within the home network) - it doesn't work. I did have someone try from outside my network, but he had no luck. Am I missing something? I did call Road Runner Internet service to verify Port 21 is not blocked (it isn't). I can connect to my work ftp site from the home office. I've tried the IP address of my router from the outside world (which of course will change) for the FTP site, but that didn't work either.
