Hi allI have read a lot of posts on how to do the upgrade so my question is not really on that. These are the steps I will take:1. back up the 323 settings (running FW 1.09)2. remove both 1TB drives and label them so if need be I can put them in the proper slot. (keeping one drive as back up in case things go wrong)3. install the new drives and format them for raid 14. install the ext2 driver and add the drive on my PC5. wait for the format to finished6. (question 1)Question 1: Now this is where I need some clarification. Do I need to un share and remove the permissions on the old drives before doing the steps described above? or do I just leave the current config and just recreate the folders and shares and grant the same permission on the new drives, then copy the data over to the 323?Question 2: The new drives might be pre formated so should I delete the partitions before installing the drives in the 323?ThanksDenis
Well my current drives are formatted in ext2 cause ext3 was not an option at the time but my new drives will be ext3.RegardsDenis
Good newsAll went well last night with the HD upgrade (Seagate 2TB ST32000542AS), the damn thing is still transfering data after 12 hours . Well 900GB at 10mb/s for the first 4 hours then dropped to 5mb/s for some reason, no wonder its taking forever... I think my next move is to get another Nas, it will probably be this one: http://www.buffalotech.com/products/network-storage/home-and-small-office/linkstation-pro-duo-ls-wvlr1/, 72mb/s now thats probably the fastest NAS on the market .BTW Thanks Jamie for the info Denis
