Can't Access Drives
« on: January 03, 2011, 01:25:23 AM »

Anyone having problems with the DNS 323, my network is showing the device, but refusing to show the hard drives.  I can't figure out how to get into the drives.  It used to work, and i updated the firmware now I can't use it.  In windows 7 it shows the device in network places, but when i click on it sends me to the admin page.  Before there would be two hard drives that i could click on.  On my mac, i open my machintosh hd, and i don't see it.  I see a question mark in the window, click on it, says nothing found, then after a minute or two the drive shows up.  It is so frustrating.

Reset recommended after a firmware change. Also check the web interface to ensure the shares are still there (e.g. Volume_1)

The drive letters are available?

In the DNS the SMB feature is activated and access to the HD's is granted for ALL and R/W? --> Menu Advanced -> Network Access
I don't know if it's set in this way by default.

No letters for the two drives, and this is the screen shot.  And both have there read/write ability.  Now after i did that reset the device is not showing up on the network.

I finally got it to work. I first reset the system to its defualts.  Then i removed the preconfigured ip, and let it use dhcp.  And finally with the easy search program i mapped each drive and gave it a letter.

DHCP is always good ;) .

Please mark this thread "Solved" (edit the header in your initial post) so everyone knows here's a solution for similar problems.
