Hi folks,
I'm having issues connecting wirelessly through our router. The hardwire connection is fine. This morning our wireless cut out, and after finding this forum, I tried all the suggestions listed by Furry Nutz. Nothing worked, so I did a factory reset. I had some trouble with the Internet Setup portion at first, but that finally started working. I don't remember what I did. I set up my DHCP reservations again. One computer was able to get online and performed normally. The other (separated from the router by 1 floor but physically only about 10 feet) was showing a full 5 bars but wasn't able to access the internet. The third computer is hardwired and without problems.
At this point I started to work through the listed things to try by Furry Nutz again, and after I got to the point where I enabled Multi-cast Streaming, both wireless computers were able to access the internet, but they were REALLY slow. What I mean is, when I navigate to a website, it takes a fair amount of time with messages like, "waiting for <website name here>" or sometimes "Sending request." However, once the page starts loading, it loads very quickly. Now, we're back to the point where the computer 1 floor away is unable to access the internet again.
One odd thing is that my wireless devices weren't showing up on my "Status" page, even though they were connected to the router and able to get to the internet. When I go to my Setup/Network page, they're showing up under Dynamic DHCP Clients, even though I've set up reserved DHCP addresses for all wireless devices. They're listed with the IP addresses I assigned, so I'm not sure why they're showing up as Dynamic.
Should I continue going through the suggestions by Furry Nutz? Should I try something else? I don't know what info I need to provide, but here you go...
I have a Motorola SB5100 Cable Modem provided by Comcast Hi-Speed DSL with a stand-alone modem in Boston.
Hardware Version B1, Firmware 2.00NA
Router is set to Channel 11, with InSSIDer showing other routers on channels 1 and 6. No cordless phones in the house, although we have a
Mixed b, g, and n mode, channel width 20MHz.
WPA-Personal mode, with Auto WPA mode, TKIP and AES cipher type.
These are the steps I went through to get where I am now:
Disabled QOS and disabled Traffic Shaping (both were enabled) under Advanced/Qos Engine.
Advanced DNS Services already turned off
DNS Relay already enabled
DHCP Reservations already set up, but wireless devices are showing up as Dynamic DHCP clients.
Devices already set to auto obtain IPs
UDP Endpoint Filtering was set to Address Restricted and TCP was set to Port and Address Restricted. Both are now set to Endpoint Independent.
uPnP already enabled.
Multi-cast Streaming now enabled.
Any advice would be most welcome! I've already spent 5 hours trying to fix this stuff, and I'm ready to throw this thing out the window.
