Just verified that my DIR-857 is doing the same thing on OSX 10.7 on my MAC Book Pro. Router is not being filled in ???

I just turned on IPv6 and selected Automatic and DHCP6, and turned OFF IPv6 firewall to test. I can't go any farther then that right now.

So clearly either the firmware on both our routers is wonky, or we're missing something (unlikely, I think!).

I'll let you know what D-Link suggests when I call.

How were you able to test it Furry?  Did you use one of the tunnel services?

I just enabled the IPv6 function on the router so that IPv6 services would be broadcast on the LAN is all, I don't have any tunneling set up as of yet for WAN access with IPv6. I need to get that set up. Maybe one of you can help me with that sometime.  ::)

Always willing to help out if you need it, Furry :)

Just an update..  So I phoned D-Link and got as far as level 2 support, but he seems to think it could be my modem.  I'm going to try and find out from some other Teksavvy users with the same modem if they're able to get it to work.  I want to say they're just trying to shift blame.

I may take my router to work and hook it up on a basic ADSL modem to rule that out.  Does anyone have any experience with what they do when they find out their product is genuinely defective? And by product I mean the entire firmware, not my specific device.  Is it likely they might roll out a new firmware, or will I probably be screwed in to buying Rev C3 at a later date, lol.

Let us know how the router works at work for you, thats a good test to see if the problem follows.
I would make sure that the ISP modem fully supports IPv6.

I'll send you a PM and maybe this week, you can walk me thru IPv6 tunneling under IPv4.  ::)

It just works with Windoz, no problems! IPV6 also works on my Android without a hitch with my DIR-827. I keep looking at refurbed Macs, I just don't have enough people to support with Macs. My doctor just switched to a PC, she is totally lost.

Furry, if you need help with a tunnel, put me on the list. Not much diff between 6RD and a tunnel except you use your providers IP addresses. If you use your Amplifi series you will have the best firewall available.  ;D

Sorry my response time is so slow, daughters ex is being a troll and requires my involvement(he just lives 2 blocks away). But she is home safe now, that is all that matters.

Packettracer is a whiz at this too, way more experience then me!

Macs are great, easy to use.
Wonder why your doctor went with Windoz.  ???

Thanks, I might ask for help this week. Want to see how it works for tunneling since my ISP doesnt' have IPv6 implemented as of yet.

Some new patient software they switched to in house. No paper. It is giving her fits! The patient needs to sign in using it too with a tablet. I was in for my physical and filling out all the information she already has on paper(and has had for 20 years), into the stupid patient tablet, while answering questions about my health it starts playing an Asthma medicine commercial, stopping me dead in my tracks from finishing the questioner. Over 50% of the people that live in LA have breathing problems, so when I drive into LA further, I too have problems breathing, so I checked the box for Asthma. Seems like a major HIPAA violation, playing commercials out loud as patients check the boxes. Good thing I did not check something embarrassing/personal like diapers or something.........

She literally had to put my Physical off because her computer would not cooperate, now thinking about it, I am going to do a little WiFi snooping when I go back, there was nothing on 5Ghz, but 2.4 was overloaded. Not sure I like my patient info being beamed out over the air waves on WiFi, maybe they use RADIUS.

She said it is $7K per user. That is a lot of paper!

She still uses a Mac at home and I know she has a PDR on her Iphone, I am not sure why they would not make a Mac version of the patient software. If I had a Mac I would be using it for the clearly better Digital Darkroom capabilities. Mac's have always been better then PC's at that type of thing! Amiga's were good back in the day also.(Digital Toaster)

Just FYI, I hook up the good old 825 last night and set up the IPv6 options as I did on the 857. OSX 10.6.8 was not getting any addressing. It was late so I couldn't check 10.7.4. FW v2.07 is loaded.  ??? I'll check it out again tonight.

Hey again guys :)

Ahh I can't believe she switched to Windows.  Don't get my wrong, Windows XP and 7 are alright.  They have their pros.  I use it at work all the time only because my company is too cheap to buy Macs.  They're using Foxpro for all of our in-house software, which is crap IMO.  I'd much rather have the office switch to OS X and have the developers use Objective-C.  Then maybe we could pump out some iPhone/iPad apps for the staff to use :P

In any case, I didn't end up taking the router to work.  Sunday night I ended up flashing OpenWRT Backfire on to my old Linksys router, and managed to get IPv6 configured on it, and BOOM, it worked.  Phoned D-Link back today, explained that I got it working on another router, thereby taking the blame away from my modem, and they basically told me my product was defective.  I think the entire 655 series is flawed.  Not sure how it got its IPv6 certification, lol.

I took it back, spent more money and got an 825, and 5 minutes after I got it home, IPv6 is cooking exactly like it should!  All is well in the world :D

Furry, I believe 10.6.8 should support IPv6.  What were you settings on the 857?  Take some screen shots if you can!

Well on my 825 i'm using
Auto Detect for IPv6 CONNECTION TYPE

LAN IPv6 ADDRESS SETTINGS:
Enable DHCP-PD :    Checked
LAN IPv6 Address : BLANK   /64
LAN IPv6 Link-Local Address :FE80::226:5AFF:FEC7:4276/64

For other:
Enable automatic IPv6 address assignment :   Checked
Enable Automatic DHCP-PD in LAN :   Checked
Autoconfiguration Type :     SLAAC+Stateless DHCPv6

Resulting on 10.6.8 and 10.7.4 that no IPv6 address information is being filled in under Networking. I had been getting IPv6 addressing with the 857 accept for the IPv6 Router address.

Wow, that is weird, I was using my 825 with Vista and it worked fine for IPV6.

Maybe just a patch for OSX?

You might think so however the 857 was giving me an address, the 825 isn't.  ???
