I have searched quite a few topics here in the forums looking for a solution to my problem before posting, and tried several things, but nothing has worked yet. So, I am now asking for help on, what seems to be, a problem unique to me..
My internet connection times out every couple minutes, and to my best knowledge, it's due to the router... When my internet times out, I can connect to the router's IP page, and under status, it says it's connected. I can also connect to my modem's IP page, and it also says I'm connected to the internet.
I have the DGL-4500 with the Motorola SB6120 cable modem. All my diagnoses have been done with the only computer wired to the router (aside from my printer/scanner), everything else is wireless throughout the house. I have even done some of the things that FurryNutz has posted through most of his responses:
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
A2Are you wired or wireless connected to the router when this happens? Both?
WiredSome things to try:
I recommend trying ISP DNS IP addresses first while testing.
Couldn't figure this bit outTurn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
CheckTurn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
CheckTurn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
CheckSetup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Check, CheckSet Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
CheckEnable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.
CheckTurn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.
I thank you for your help in advance. Maybe I don't know what I did wrong, and its probably all my fault, haha, and I'll take the blame. But thoughts, and idea, please, on how to fix this?
