I believe all my devices support WPA2 so i definitely want to use that. Not all support wireless N cough:Nintendo 3DS: cough.  Also some devices support wireless N 2.4Ghz but not 5Ghz.

Any other suggestions that may work and not break the bank? I always like to have choices. :)

Then run the 601 in AP mode for those devices that don't use 5ghz or N mode. Run it in mixed G and N mode. Use the 4500 for 5Ghz devices that do support 5Ghz.

That 601 doesn't have Gigabit ports. Won't that bring the entire network down to 10/100 speeds?

That is what I have always heard may be totally off the mark though.

It doesn't. ::) Would only effect the port that it's connected too, so if you have a external switch and it's connected to the 601, only the port on the switch will run at 100, not the entire network.

I figured that but i had heard several times in the past that when you put a slower item on a network it reduces the speed of the entire network to that lower speed. Never made sense to me but thought i would verify before heading over to amazon.

Ordered the 601. Supposed to be here Saturday.

I have to say after receiving this new router. These power adapters that D-Link have are complete rubbish. They are huge and take up waaaaaaaay too much space. I am off to Lowes to buy an extension cord  ::)

D-Link isn't the only company who uses these power adapters  like this. It's the nature of the beast. They keep the power sources and additional heat away from the main operating parts. Cost effective and for the most part works. More of a inconvenience to users than anything else.
