DIR-501 Printer and Connection Problems
« on: May 08, 2013, 03:48:43 PM »

???Hi, I just recently got a DIR-501 and for the most part the router works just fine with the exception of it connecting properly with my Brother MFC-7480W Printer and some minor connection problems. For some reason I am able to scan files and they will appear on my laptop but when I print, the icon always shows that it is offline and will never print. I have tried re installing the Brother Drivers but for some explainable reason it is unable to detect my printer. It's a really weird situation because I am able to scan files but not print.

Along with that I have a minor issue with the connectivity of the router. Whenever I start my computer, I have to reset the DIR-501 router in order for my internet to be connected. If I do not, it tells me that my connectivity is limited and browsing will not work at all until it is reset. This happens on both my wireless laptops.

I've been having a lot more problems with this router than my prior Wireless G Linksys router which did the job equally as well, but broke due to old age. Can anyone help?

Link>Welcome!

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
Has a Factory Reset been performed?

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.

Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.

Hi,

My Hardware Version is A1, Firmware Version 1.01, Region is North America (?)
And yes I've performed Factory Reset once already and both my computers are connected through wireless network, as my Printer is. My Router is DIR-501.

You said to set up my IP separately for every device, I am not sure how to do this. Could you provide me with further instructions? Thank You!
