I have been using the router since December.  Originally bought with firmware 1.20 on it and upgraded to FW 1.21 worked fine for routing.  Set up admin PW greater then 15 character with ! and @ used as part of PW for Complexity(22Char to be exact).  Set up the User PW with less then 15 Char with just ! in it for complexity.  Upgraded FW to 1.31 and completed successfully.  Then rebooted router with no connection except on desktop XP system.  Was able to log on with Admin account and just the Graphic PW fine.  Restored the Saved Setting and now the Admin PW does not work no matter how many times I try to log in. The User PW and Account works fine.  Called support and they had me check the Cable Modem Motorola and then reset the router for 15 sec with power pluged in then reboot by unplugging power.  Then had me connect to cable modem and then power up again.  was able to get in. with default.  restored saved config again and same problem with ADmin PW while User PW works.  Other then this router is functioning for two desktops hardwired one laptop Vista wireless and one Wii wireless.

Any help appreciated.  Already to told to manually reconfig.  But this appears to be a firmware bug or limitation.

If the first firmware RESTORE gave you an error, why in Pete's sake did you run the same restored config file again? This actually 'proves' that the saved config files can get damaged (You only need one bit to go wild).

Resolution: Do the exact same thing that solved it the first time and when you're in DO NOT restore the saved config again (otherwise I will start to believe that you're the one with a bug in your head... ). Configure manually and set a new password.

PS: always do a firmware upgrade through wired PC, never through a wirelessly connected PC

I agree that the reapply was a mistake.

but had to try.

  The default admin account with the default PW works as stated.   I wanted to make sure others didn't make same mistake and have a long complex PW for admin account.  Best for others to change PW first to a less complex and shorter one less then 15 characters then save configuration and then do the upgrade if 1.31 is worth it.  Most forums say no 1.31 is a mistake.  Then apply the saved settings and they should be OK to then change PW back to the long complex PW

Hey I see 1.32 FW is out now.  It does not say if Admin PW issue was reviewed and possibly fixed.  Anyone from inside D-Link know if ADmin PW issue was reviewed and possibly fixed?
