DIR-655 ssh access
« on: August 22, 2009, 09:06:50 PM »

Working with the DIR-655 on a Verizon FIOS 15/5 connection. I cannot get the system to recognize the open port 22 pointing to my Linux server. For that matter I can't even get the remote administration of the router no matter which setting I use. http/https ports 8181 or 443 etc...

Anyone gotta clue?

More info needed. Firmware version, modem configurable or not etc

DIR-655 Firmware v1.32NA directly connected to Verizon FIOS ONT via Ethernet Cable
Tried Virtual Server to port 22 no access
Opened port 22 pointing to IP of Linux server no access
I went to the GRC.com site and tried testing for open ports under these parameters
and everything shows stealth mode.
I also open a port to an IP controlled power strip. Didn't work either.
With the original Actiontec modem/router no problems with SSH or Power Strip.
I have enabled and disabled most everything I could under each setting.

Try port forwarding instead of virtual server...Had the same problem with ssh into my linux box and all works now.

Cheers!

Okay, It was an interesting trip...I have multiple routers. I gave this one an address of 192.168.1.140 even though it was the first one off the FIOS ONT. Once I set it back to 192.168.1.1 everything works as designed...

Thanks!
