DIR-655 not working with VoIP adapter...
« on: December 24, 2009, 01:14:33 AM »

OK, I just hooked up my new DIR-655 and it works perfectly when it is connected directly to my modem. The problem starts when I hook up the VoIP adapter. The adapter is an InnoMedia MTA 6328-2Re. The cable modem plugs into the WAN port on the VoIP adapter and then a cable is run from the LAN port on the adapter to the Internet port on the DIR-655. When this is done there is no IP address assigned to the WAN for the router, leaving me with no internet access if I want to use my VoIP phone (which is the only phone for the house). I assume I need to configure this adapter to play nicely with the router? If this is true, or you have knowledge of why this could be happening, then I would love and appreciate any and all help pertaining to the issue!

Hi afasthero,

Try this instead.

Outside Line to Cable Modem. Cable Modem to Wan Port of the D-Link DIR-655 Router. VoIP Adapter to the Lan Port of the D-Link Router.
Now using the Router Settings, move the VoIP Adapter to the DMZ Zone of the Router.

See if that works.

It took me a while to get around to trying this solution, but it worked perfectly! Thank you very much for your help!
