Yeah I am using the Vista driver in Windows 7.. I have been connected for almost a week now with out any disconnects..

Forgive me if I sound a little skeptical, but I found this card worked in an Intel machine, but not in a ChainTech both using WinXP Pro sp3 (32 bit).  Even if your solution worked for Windows 7 64-bit, this does not help those of us using a 32 bit environment.  One cannot expect this card to work in a 64 bit environment and not in a 32 bit setup.  The reverse is understandable, but not in your case.

Report back in a couple of weeks and I'll be a little more interested if you are still running.  I had mine run sporadically for several months, then smooth out the remaining several, only to run into more severe problems when I swapped it into another non-Intel machine.

Sorry to resurrect a dead/old thread.

Not sure how the fix with that driver has worked for anyone else, but I just installed the driver and am *really* hoping it works.  I am at my wits end with the disconnects, or alternatively, with different drivers, the slowest internet in the world - like bytes per second.

What I have done as a temporary fix was set my computer to sleep after two minutes, as after sleeping, the 552 would see networks again.  Doing this has worked, except if I want to upload/download anything at a decent speed, in which case the 552 would have a heart attack and die.

i have the same card using the same windows 7 x64 and the ultimate solution is to use the WPS method it works like a charm.

Yes, read above, I did call, and I got RMAd, and as mentioned, it just cost me shipping.. the new card did not work any better.  It's definitely a driver issue.  Not to mention that my computer hasn't had a single crash aside from when I turn this card on!

I know that this sounds pathetic, but besides posting in the forum, has anyone using the DWA-552 Card in the Windows 7 Ultimate or simply 64-bit enviroment called D-Link Support and allowed them to help you or at least get an RMA from them?

Perhaps, they can see that the people writing the drivers for the 64-bit environment, can't and they should hire different programmers, or they will need to post to the web-site, that D-Link doesn't support the DWA-552 in the Windows 7 64-bit environment.

Just a thought.

How could so many people have problems with the DWA-552??
Of course the new card probably won't work any better cause you're not doing it right.

Go to Control Panel>Network and Internet> Open Network and Sharing Center>
look over your left side where is says Manage wireless networks and delete any OLD wireless WiFi you don't use or use rarely (just in case it connects to something else automatically).
Start from fresh right?
When you attempt to connect this card to your router, use WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) sooo much easier.
On my DIR-655 ( you have to log in D-link is 192.168.0.1 in your web browser) ,for example, it's under the advanced tab on ur left you will see WIFI Protected Setup>make sure it's Enabled
Shows current PIN and below that Add Wireless Station (Click Wireless Device with WPS).
Follow instructions> there's a button on your router (assuming it supports WIFI Protected Setup) and when prompted , hold down that button for like 5 secs, it will flash for about 30 secs or less).
Screen will show the DWA-552 is now ready to be connected with your router, when prompted click on screen instructions and watch your router and wireless adapter (DWA-522) connect to each other.

Your ready to surf the net securely now (also assuming you configuired your router's security (WEP = crappy&easy to hack WPA better, more secure and WPA2 now this is the **** much better).
Still think I don't know what I'm talking about? thank me for posting this.

Is anyone finding that the card itself is limited to speeds below 802.11g on an 802.11n network? I have a Netgear WNDR3700 router connected to the DWA-552 card at 2.4 ghz (up to 300 mbps), and the card is delivery speeds under 54 mbps, while my laptop in the same room with an intel 6200 is getting 263 mbps.

EDIT: After using an antenna, the transfer rate has improved.

On your NetGear Router, try changing the Wireless Channel to the highest Channel available and see if that makes a difference with the card.

The card with the DIR-655 Routers seems to like Channel 11 to get a Transmission Speed of 270 Mbps, reported by the Router and the lower Channel numbers, the router reports a slower connection speed, while Windows constantly reports 300 Mbps.
