Hello all! Due to a power surge, I replaced my D-Link Wireless G with the DIR-615 a few months ago.
Hmm, I wonder what else may have been damaged. How did the surge come in? Through the power line? Cable line?
As for the issue, so your problem is Wired Vista is losing the default gateway, but the XP isn't? When you lose the connection on the Vista, can you still get online with the XP? If so, I would agree with Furry and say its a Vista issue. The first thing I would try is disabling IPv6 on the Vista.
Start Menu > Start Search > ncpa.cpl > Right click Local Area connection and click on properties > Uncheck IPv6.
See how that does. Static IPs could help, DHCP reservesations can help. Also try disabling your Antivirus. When Vista detected the new connection, it would have asked you to label it (Home, work, trusted, etc) and that change may of changed how your AV monitors it. You can also change what kind of network its listed as in the Network and Sharing center.
