The SZ models by sony have a program called the Smart-Wi connection utility. Always make sure WLAN is selected. Do you normally use this tool? (It is used to switch between the EDGE network and WLAN). Remove the utility if you don't. The SZ models also have a lot of updates so make sure you have the latest Intel wireless driver.
Try re-creating your wireless profile in windows (Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Wireless Networks > Remove all the networks listed here). The existing profile may not be setup properly or became corrupt in some way. Or, another network may be 'higher' and it tries to connect you, etc, etc.
Has the problem occurred just recently? Perform a system restore to earlier in the week.
