Sadly I am the only one here that was willing to buy a router, all the others are using those modem + router combo from their internet provider.

Besides that, I do not have the money to buy another router to test. Lucky me I had just received some temporary money so I could test both routers the same time. I have 20 days to decide which one I will return, and I hope it is not the DIR-835.

No worries, I have forwarded this on to my contacts here. Please phone in as well.

I'll gather up all my devices and see what the DIR-857 can do.  :D

Ok so I tested my DIR-857 Rev A1 v1.02, Mixed ALL modes, Mixed G and N and N only, Auto 20/40Mhz, Channel 11, WPA2 and AES only and i'm able to get 7 devices connected on 2.4Ghz all at once:
Started with 5 on 2.4Ghz and one on 5ghz to monitor wireless status:

6 Devices connected on 2.4Ghz:

7 Devices connected on 2.4Ghz:

The only thing that I noticed is that one device with a DWA-131 does not connect using single mode N for some reason, this maybe a DWA issue not related to the router as you can see it's the only device connected in G mode. Other then that, all 7 connected and internet or network testing passed.

Devices used:
Mac Book Pro, iBook G3 using a DWA-131, 2 iphone 4s's, 2 PC's using DWA-160's, and a xbox 360 using a 2.4/5Ghz wireless adapter.

I hope this will let D-Link know that the DIR-857 supports more than 6 devices. I presume the DIR-835 should as well.

Just a quick update:

DNS name server is still flooding the router's log. For now I will leave "System Activity" logging disabled.

Are you using your ISP DNS or something else? I would try using Googles Name Bench app and see if you can find alternate DNS. Input that into the router and turn OFF DNS Relay.

I enabled and then disabled DNS Relay and now it is not flooding the logs :)
Maybe the config got lost somehow.
I also disabled DHCP always broadcast, I believe that all my devices should work with it off. Here is hoping that those two options were causing all the problems...

I am now using Google's DNS.

Keep us posted. Have you been in contact with DLink support about the wireless problem yet?

Not yet, I plan testing with only 2.4GHz active and then calling them. I might call them tomorrow morning if I have the time as I think that it won't make much of a difference.

It might not get any quick resolution however it will bring this to there attention. The more they know about it the more they will be apt to get a fix going for it.

Keep us posted.

Not sure if this will help any. Might be worth a try. There isn't any release info on it so don't know what it fixes.  :-\
