I recommend that you both phone contact your regional local D-Link support office and ask for level 2 or higher support.
This is an issue on all DAP-2553 models, not just his (not being able to set the date manually to anything later than 2012).I have been able to get around it using a NTP server on the same LAN...
Here's your definitive answer:Open a command prompt, enter a telnet session with the ap (Telnet ***.***.***.*** where the stars are the IP of the AP)enter admin credentials once you get to a prompt that looks like this: WAP->enter this:set time (year) (month number) (day number) (hour) (minute) (second)so... RIGHT NOW would beset time 2013 11 20 9 52 00
